Coming into the Super Junior Tag League as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions can put a lot of pressure on a team, but Catch 2/2 proved they are able to thrive under pressure. Since uniting TJP & Francesco Akria of United Empire have shined as a team, and have only taken a single loss in the tournament. Meanwhile, the Suzuki-gun duo of Yoshinobu Kanemaru & DOUKI have only won a single match in this tournament – and have to settle for playing spoiler at this stage of the tournament.
Yoshinobu Kanemaru Is The Man With A Plan
TJP would kick things off with Kanemaru, the two veterans of the match. They’d battle over control of a wrist lock, with TJP able to take Kanemaru down with a headscissor hold. TJP would be rolled back up to his feet, before they’d both go for shoulder tackles – and then both for drop downs. Kanemaru had a kick caught, but TJP was convinced to put the foot down.
Akira & DOUKI would trade arm drags in the middle of the ring, before TJP would launch Akira into DOUKI – setting up a roll into a double stomp. Akira would follow up with a shotgun dropkick, getting a two count before dropping DOUKI again with a stiff forearm smash. TJP got the tag, setting up the floating senton for another two count.
A spinning face wash on the mat would be followed by the Muta Lock. DOUKI would wrestle his way free, only to take a hammerlock armbreaker and to have Akira thrown onto him for a senton. Kanemaru would take this fight to the floor, driving Akira face first off the ring post before hitting a single leg dropkick to the side of the head.
Back in the ring, DOUKI would keep the pressure on Akira, before Kanemaru would simply stomp on his face. Akira tried to fight back, but was driven back into the corner with a rake to the eyes. Running boot to the jaw would follow, before Kanemaru was dropped with a running enziguri. TJP would get the tag, and hit the running face wash in the corner before a tornado DDT for a two count.
DOUKI Finishes Off Francesco Akira
TJP would signal for the Mamba Splash, but Kanemaru was able to roll to freedom. Akira would hit the ring to be thrown into a dropkick, before DOUKI fell to a double sidewalk slam. Suzuki-gun would roll to the floor, and Akira caught them with a dive over the top rope. Akira would spike Kanemaru with a German Suplex, only for DOUKI to break the pinfall up.
DOUKU came off the top rope with a dropkick, taking Akira down before a Coffin Splash to TJP. Northern Lights Suplex would follow, with DOUKI getting a two count. Kanemaru would hit the British Fall, and DOUKI followed with a double stomp before applying the DOUKI CHOKEY. TJP attempted to make the save, but was caught in the Figure Four Leg Lock.
Akira was urged to not submit by TJP, and was able to get his foot on the bottom rope, but DOUKI held on for a few more seconds to set up Daybreak DDT. This was blocked into a Snap Dragon Suplex, before Kanemaru ran Akira down with a big boot. DOUKI would trade blows with Akira in the middle of the ring, before taking the Alley Oop facebuster and Speed Fire for a near fall.
Kanemaru once again saved the match, before Akira would be ran into the referee. The bottle of whisky was grabbed, and Kanemaru set up the Suntory Special. He’d use the mist to take out Akira before a DDT to TJP. DOUKI hit Daybreak DDT, but Akira managed to kick out. However, no one kicks out of Suplex De La Luna – and DOUKI & Kanemaru beat the champions.
