A clean sweep of the World Tag League field is no longer in the cards for Aussie Open, after their loss to Tetsuya Naito & SANADA yesterday in Osaka. However, they remain in the lead of the tournament with 10 points – and have a chance to maintain that lead tonight. They are faced with a team who has failed to make an impact in the field with a victory with Gabriel Kidd & Alex Coughlin. Already eliminated from the field, they are simply trying to get on the board before the end of the tournament – and tonight would be a major upset should they win.
Aussie Open Waste No Time Hitting The Ring
Aussie Open would rush into the ring and right into a brawl with Coughlin & Kidd, with Kidd quickly being sent down to the floor. Coughlin would hold his ground and send Aussie Open out – before Kidd flew off the top rope with a moonsault. Back in the ring, Coughlin would catch Fletcher with a set of Gutwrench suplexes before an Exploder Suplex from Kidd.
Davis would help his partner avoid a double suplex, before tanking a few chops from a very determined Kidd. A knee to the midsection would be followed by Kidd being thrown to the floor. Coughlin was taken down by Fletcher, and LA Dojo would be rammed into each other with spinebusters before backdrops onto the apron and finally a set of scoop slams on the floor.
A PK & XL Senton would follow in the ring, with Kidd barely able to kick out before three. Fletcher hit a elbow butt to the top of the head, before locking in a tight rear chinlock. Kidd would be able to hang on, and get his foot on the bottom rope to make the break. Davis would get the tag, hitting a quick scoop slam to further punish the back of Kidd.
Kidd would take another scoop slam and fire up, only to be thrown to the floor. Fletcher tried for a powerslam on the floor, with Kidd hitting one of his own. A stiff palm strike to the jaw of Davis in the ring would follow, before Coughlin would get the tag and make the knees buckle with a chop.
Gabriel Kidd Gets The Crowd Behind Him
Davis would try for a jumping splash into the corner, only for Coughlin to catch him with a Belly to Belly Suplex and a Burning Lariat for a two count. Davis would manage an enziguri before stumbling into a tag to Fletcher, who was flattened with a reverse body slam. Kidd would be whipped into some strikes on Fletcher before Coughlin hit a powerbomb for a two count.
Fletcher would be able to hit superkicks to both opponents, with Kidd falling onto the shoulders of Davis on the floor. Dental Plan Kick would follow, before Coughlin took the Press Slam/Cutter combination. The power of Coughlin allowed him to block the attempt at Corealis, hitting a double backdrop instead.
Davis & Kidd would exchange strikes in the middle of the ring, Kidd holding his own this time as the chops echoed through the arena. A running chop would drop Davis and get the crowd behind LA Dojo, before Coughlin hit the ring for a double headbutt. Davis would duck the lariats, and Kidd & Coughlin stopped themselves from crashing.
Fletcher would take Coughlin out with a kick, before Kidd was sandwiched with lariats. Corealis would follow, and LA Dojo have lost 7 in a row – while Aussie Open take the lead in the tournament with 12 points.
