Tetsuya Naito has a long history with Osaka, it being a city of massive highs and crushing lows in his career. Tonight as he teams with SANADA in World Tag League, he hopes to make it a high – as they have the chance to hand Aussie Open their first loss of the tournament. It takes a special team to go 4-0, and Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis are the walking definition of special.
If anyone can beat them – it’s SANADA & Naito, who are former IWGP Tag Team Champions – and have their backs against the wall, making them extra dangerous. Both teams got two extra points due to the forfeit of Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale – meaning Aussie Open are technically now at 5-0, and Naito & SANADA at 3-2.
SANADA & Tetsuya Naito Are Dialed In Tonight
SANADA would kick this match off with Davis, having to fight off a wrist lock immediately. He’d get close, before Davis switched into a side headlock. Davis would run SANADA down with a shoulder tackle when shoved off the hold. Fletcher & Naito would get tags, with Naito punishing Fletcher for getting cocky with a punch to the midsection.
Fletcher would be sent to the floor, and Naito teased a dive before instead hitting his signature taunt… only for Davis to land on him with an XL Senton. Aussie Open would work on isolating Naito in their corner, with Fletcher being run down with a back elbow into a sliding dropkick. SANADA would hit the ring with a dropkick and Atomic Drop on Fletcher, before locking him in the Paradise Lock.
SANADA would free Fletcher with the dropkick, before being taken to the floor as Aussie Open would hit spinebusters – crashing L.I.J into each other after picking up some speed. Back in the ring, a body slam on SANADA would get a two count. Aussie Open sent him off the ropes to set up a PK & XL Senton for a two count.
SANADA would be able to catch Davis with a suplex – and made the much needed tag to Naito. Davis would take a basement dropkick, before Fletcher was cornered for the slingshot dropkick – with Naito slipping and deciding for a neckbreaker instead. Another neckbreaker in the middle of the ring would be followed by the Double Leg Nelson – with Fletcher having his neck softened up.
Aussie Open Taste Defeat In War Of A Main Event
Fletcher was able to get his foot on the bottom rope, and made the tag to Davis. Some heavy handed chops would follow, with Davis following through with a lariat. Naito would be able to catch Davis with a swinging DDT – before SANADA got the tag. Davis would be sandwiched with dropkicks before being dropped with the TKO for a near fall.
Tiger Suplex would be blocked, with Davis hitting a Death Valley Driver for a two count. Fletcher would be rolled up by SANADA for a two count, before taking a two person Tiger Driver for a near fall. SANADA would come out of the corner into Skull End, with Naito taking Davis off the apron as SANADA spun Fletcher around.
He’d go limp, but was able to avoid the moonsault and hit a spinning Tombstone Piledriver. Naito was dropped with a double kick, before SANADA would be able to catch Davis with the Dragon Screw Neckbreaker. Fletcher was dropped with Esperanza, before a sliding elbow in the corner caught Naito. He’d be sandwiched with lariats, before blocking Corealis into Destino for a near fall.
A second Destino in the ring would almost be blocked into the Tombstone, with Naito slipping out into a rolling liger kick. SANADA would launch Naito into a DDT on Fletcher, before Destino for the finish. Who can stop Aussie Open? Tetsuya Naito & SANADA certainly could. This is the kind of match that changes the look of the tournament.
