The women’s division in NXT has been rebuilding for a while since they took all of the experienced wrestlers and put them on the main roster. While they have a great group of prospects and a lot of talent down there, they need those big stars down there, especially since Mandy Rose is gone. Here are the three women in NXT that I think will have a big year in 2023.
Ava Raine
People hated that she didn’t take her father’s last name or incorporate something about him in her name. I loved it. There is no way that she could ever live up to the name that Dwayne Johnson built in wrestling.
I think that she made the right choice, but it will only work if she performs well enough to make her own name in the industry.
She is currently a part of the Joe Gacy led group, Schism. I think that as long as she is still growing and trying to find her footing, it is best to surround her with people that can cover up her weakness.
In 2023, she is going to have to start showing what she can do in the ring. I know that having The Rock in her corner and the possibility of him showing up to some NXT shows to watch and give everyone the rub is appealing to WWE.
Sol Ruca
This lady is a former athlete that transitioned to become a wrestler. When I watched one of her matches on NXT Level Up, I think that the match looked smooth and Sol and her opponent both looked good.
I think that she has a great look but her charisma still yet to be seen by me. If she can pull this off, she might be on her way to the moon.
She went viral a few weeks ago for her finisher move. It is like a RKO where she does a front flip in the second rope in the corner.
This might not seem like a big deal but there have been wrestlers throughout history that are basically one move wrestlers like Goldberg.
Nikkita Lyons
This is someone that may surprise some people. Wrestling fans usually judge wrestlers, especially ones that they are not familiar with strickly off of in ring talent.
Nikkita Lyons is someone that you have to see her other qualities. WWE and NXT seem hell bent on pushing Lyons and I understand why.
Not only is she very beautiful, she has a body type that sets her apart from all of the other women wrestlers. She is probably the closest thing that they have to having a big women’s wrestler.
She isn’t big like Odyssey Jones though, she is a former bodybuilder/fitness model, so she came into the company in shape and didn’t have to develop it.
This makes her somewhat unique compared to the other women in the company that are typically around the same size. I wouldn’t put her in the same category as Jade Cargill, but she kind of give that same aura of someone that looks like an absolute star when she comes out.
