Earlier this year, AEW owner Tony Khan would make a major business move as he bought the rights to long standing independent wrestling promotion Ring of Honor. He’d be able to run three of the most successful PPV events in the brands history with Supercard of Honor, Death Before Dishonor, and Final Battle – using AEW TV time to promote the events and feuds. However, following Final Battle – Khan is ready to let AEW stand on it’s own legs.
Tony Khan Is Ready To Take The Training Wheels Off Of ROH In 2023
While speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Tony Khan would have a chance to explain the future plans for Ring of Honor in 2023. He feels it’s time for ROH to really stand on it’s own as a brand.
”As I understand it the numbers we already reached in a very short time are strong in membership and customer base. More than ever before. It’s a great value to join HonorClub right now. We’re going to be following up soon to talk about when the weekly Ring of Honor TV will launch and stream on HonorClub for sure. There are a lot of interesting partnerships and possibilities with great wrestling companies. Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling had a great working relationship we are rekindling. We are looking to rekindle that long relationship. Ring of Honor may be in the strongest position they’ve ever been in its 20 years. It’s the perfect time to take the training wheels off.”

More Information To Come Following NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17?
Right now, HonorClub is going to cost you $9.99 a month, with a large backlog of ROH programming available. PPV events will be available a few months after they air, and weekly TV is expected to begin in January of 2023. With the relationship to New Japan Pro Wrestling being stressed, we could get information following Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th, 2023.
Khan has a hand in that show, with FTR defending the IWGP Tag Team Championships and Kenny Omega making his return to wrestle Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship. AEW is running an episode of Dynamite that same night, meaning fans shouldn’t expect more AEW names to show up in Tokyo.
