With news that call ups from NXT will happen more frequently and be more fluid throughout the year, its fun to be able to speculate who might get called up. Following Von Wagner’s squash on this week’s NXT television show after a great showing in the Iron Survivor Challenge, there is no doubt that Von Wagner is on his way up, but to where and what would he be doing?
Where Will Von Wagner Go When He Gets Called Up From NXT
Raw or Smackdown? There is a big difference between the two different products even though they are both under the same umbrella. I think that Smackdown is historically thought of as the work rate show where all of the best matches on television tend to happen.
Raw, on the other hand, is thought of as the star-studded show with big things happening week to week and with a less emphasis on in ring action.
The thought on Von Wagner is that people don’t like him at all. I don’t think that there is any way that he is a babyface. Also, people don’t think that he is very good in the ring, although I think that he is actually pretty good for the style that he works.
With this being said, I think Monday Night Raw is going to make a long run of new talent on the show to bolster its pretty stale roster.
Even though I see him going to Raw, I’m not sure that he will really make an impact judging from the previous new talent that they have had from NXT. Nobody called up from NXT to Raw in the past year has done ANYTHING at all. I don’t see Von Wagner changing that, especially with his limited charisma.
What Will Von Wagner be Doing on Raw Upon Arrival
Von Wagner is a big guy with a decent look. I don’t see an obvious program straight off the bat, which is strange because so many NXT call ups have a clear starting point.
I don’t think that he is someone like Bron Breakker or Carmello Hayes will have any problem when they get called up because of the name that they built in NXT and the accolades that they have.
Wagner have none of this. He hasn’t won any titles or tournament or big matches for real. I think that he will have to be built from the ground up on Raw.
I think that the best direction for him would be a tag team with someone else. Of course, I think that the best bet for him would be to put him in a group with JBL and Baron Corbin.
We have saw before that Corbin and build a tag team partner from nothing. WWE needs more tag teams and Baron Corbin and Von Wagner with JBL as their manager would be a pretty interesting tag team.
