With eight matches on the card for AEW Dark this week, I think that there will be a lot of room for some great things to happen. AEW Dark has been on a streak of pretty good shows and I don’t think that it will stop here. Here are the weekly good parts of AEW Dark.
The Good from AEW Dark
Starting out, I just wanted to say how great the announce team is on this show. I don’t think that how they do things would be suitable for network television, but I think that they seem very comfortable together.
Given some time, I think that Paul Wright, Daddy Magic, and Ian will gel and become a good unit, but until they do, they should look at Taz and Excalibur as something that they should aspire to be.
It was noticeable that AEW Dark wasn’t on the west coast any more. I prefer it this way because you get something that is closer to the true feelings of the fans. If someone is over, you can tell and if the fans don’t care about them, it shows.
I really liked that Tony Deppen got his first win in AEW. I forgot who he wrestled a few weeks back and had a very good match with them as an underdog babyface. I think that it was Brian Cage.
While I don’t think that Tony will be the biggest player in AEW, I could see him being a solid piece in the All-Atlantic title picture sometime next year.
The Cezar Bononi vs Matt Sydal match was what it was, but I liked Top Flight coming out to save Sydal from a beat down after the match. This might set up a Top Flight and Sydal vs The Wingmen match for next week.
Even though the match wasn’t very good, even for a squash, I like when people that has some type of gimmick or character debuts. Harley Cameron clearly don’t have much experience, but I like that she is trying. I will give her a few weeks before I start putting her in the bad article.
Madison Rayne match was short but sweet. I like Kaci Lennox and would like to see her in some longer matches if she can wrestle. If not, she can keep getting squashed in short matches.
Something tells me that she isn’t that bad, we just don’t know. I would have preferred that the match time for this match and the Britt Baker match be swapped.
The Action Andretti vs Bronson match was better than expected. I really like that they gave it time. While I still don’t see the hype for Action Andretti, I think that he did great in this match and I love that they gave it some time.
I was much more interested in Bronson though. He did his part and even though he lost, I think that he is someone that could be big for Dark and Elevation this year if they give him something more than squash matches for most of the year.
The main even between Anthony Henry and Mascara Dorada was very good. Anthony Henry is someone that has a great look and is great in the ring.
While I don’t think that he is a singles star, I think that he has potential to be a solid part of a lower title in AEW.
I do wonder what the ceiling for Mascara Dorada is too. I have saw him wrestle in other promotions and I know that he is good, but I am having a hard time seeing where he would get the chance to show what he can do on television.
I hope that he doesn’t end up getting wasted for an extended period of time like some many other wrestlers in AEW.
