Back at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, we would see Adam Cole suffer a deadly concussion during a Fatal Four Way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship following a dropkick from Kazuchika Okada. Since then, his status has been day to day – and tonight Tony Schiavone would announce that he was welcoming a guest to the ring – Cole’s music hit? The crowd would go insane.
Adam Cole Has Bad News For The AEW Locker Room
It was time for story time with Adam Cole, and he’s got both good news and bad news. During his time away, he gained a new appreciation for both life and professional wrestling. An uncertain injury like back to back concussions combined with a torn shoulder put his fate in the ring in question. It was an incredibly hard return from injury, with constant doctor visits, insane levels of anxiety, and more.
However, despite none of his fans knowing the full extent of his injuries – the fans were there for him. He saw the fans just wanting him to live a healthy life, even if that meant him being done wrestling. This was despite him doing nothing but trashing fans for his entire time in AEW – and for that, he’s eternally grateful.
The bad news is not for Adam Cole – it’s for the AEW locker room. The bad news is, Adam Cole is back. His career was over, he thought he was finished. However, he stands before us today a better man, and after 15 years of being one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the world? Adam Cole is promising to be even better – to get to the top of AEW mountain, because he’s Adam Cole BAY-BAY!
JungleHOOK Take On The Firm In The Forum
When Jack Perry would find himself in the crosshairs of The Firm, it seemed like he would need to slay another giant all by himself. Having already cut Luchasaurus down to size, Perry was ready to do the same to Big Bill – but Lee Moriarty made this extra hard. The numbers edge was a bit too much, and led to Perry being chokeslammed into a dumpster. However, he’d find an ally in someone who has similar issues with The Firm lately, that being FTW Champion HOOK. For one night only, we have the team of JungleHOOK, as they face Bill & Moriarty in tag team action.
Perry would kick things off with Lee, able to shove him into the corner before taking an overhand chop to the chest. They’d trade strikes back and forth, before Moriarty blocked a chop with a boot only to be thrown with an arm drag before taking a dropkick to the face. HOOK would get the tag and hit a double elbow smash to the face of Lee, but the Short Arm Scissor attempt from HOOK would be blocked.
Perry & HOOK were looking to simply keep Big Bill out of the fight, but Stokely Hathaway would lure Perry into a dive – allowing Bill to nearly hit a chokeslam. This would allow Lee a chance to recover and get the tag, with Bill getting the tag. Perry was placed on the apron and run down with a big boot, allowing Lee to follow up with a diving double stomp.
HOOK Launches Big Bill With Ease
The Firm would maintain control of Perry in their corner, with Lee locking in a Triangle Choke as a counter to a lariat. Perry was able to battle free using a powerbomb, and made the tag to HOOK. Bill would be taken off the apron with a boot from HOOK, before Lee took an Exploder Suplex.
HOOK would have the pinfall broken up by Bill, only for Perry to hit a dropkick to the back of the head. Bill would stumble into a suplex from HOOK, sending him from the ring. Perry would catch Lee in the Snare Trap – and this match was over.
