A Huntsville, Alabama native was arrested and charged with the kidnap and rape of a woman in Gainesville outside of a bar. According to the Gainesville PD, Andrew Myers (36) was out drinking on SE 1st Street on January 17, 2023 at roughly 1 AM. It was then that he ran into the victim and dragged her into his van.

At least that is according to Myers. The victim claims that she met Myers inside the bar sometime before and that he offered her a drink. Throughout the night, allegedly made several unwanted advances toward the victim and other women in the bar. He then followed the victim and her friend throughout the bar.
The friend said that while she was in the restroom, Myers walked in and have the victim another drink. She noted that the victim looked drunk as she and Myers left the restroom. By her recollection, the victim had no more than four drinks.
According to the victim, she remembers the suspect carrying her before she blacked out. She stated that she remembered being assaulted by Myers when she woke up inside his van. Her friend used tracking to find her. Myers didn’t deny that the victim had been in his van when questioned by the witness. When the victim said that she’d been raped, her friend grabbed her clothes and argued with Myers.
The victim said that she regained her senses after the witness showed up to get her. After the altercation, Myers reportedly left the area in his van. The friend managed to get a shot of Myers’ license plate and the van itself.
Andrew Myers would turn himself into authorities and was placed under arrest for kidnap and sexual assault. He is being held without bail and is to have no contact with the victim following his release.
