The University of Idaho murderer Bryan Kohberger (28) is being extradited under heavy security to face first-degree murder charges. Bryan Kohberger Heads Back to Idaho to Face Four First-Degree Murder Charges in University of Idaho Stabbings
After the murders, police stopped Bryan Kohberger and his father twice in Indiana on December 15, 2022. The two were returning to Pennsylvania from Washington state. The reason he was still out two months after the murders is that there were no witnesses to the stabbings which occurred on the second and third floor.
Two of the housemates who were out with the four deceased the night prior slept on the first floor and didn’t notify police until just before noon. In those two months, authorities received an outpouring of tips and leads. It would be surveillance footage of Kohberger’s vehicle that loosened things in the investigation but DNA evidence put through a genealogy database gave detectives a name and a face.
On December 30, Bryan Kohberger was taken into custody by the FBI and Pennsylvania state troopers in connection to the murders. He agreed to extradition to Idaho—which has the death penalty—on January 3, 2023. Kohberger will also face a charge of burglary along with the murder charges.
