The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is of the belief that Don Lewis, the first husband of Carole Baskin is missing. As a matter of fact, they’re sticking with that unless they find otherwise or the federal authorities turn up something. That hasn’t stopped social media from floating the story that not only was Don Lewis found alive but the Department of Homeland Security found him in Costa Rica.
Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office Bursts Bubble on Rumors of Don Lewis the First Husband of Carole Baskin Being Alive in Costa Rica
The rumor gained steam on January 18, 2023 when users on Twitter began floating a 2021 interview where Carole Baskin discusses a supposed report from the DHS that Lewis was alive in Costa Rica. If it sounds familiar, then yes, the interview is from season two of Tiger King—which came out two years ago.
What’s interesting isn’t so much that Don Lewis is believed to be alive, it’s that people are still looking for any scrap of evidence on this front. Not only that but even old evidence—not even evidence—that proves nothing is worth getting traction. Even more interesting is that the footage was treated as a new, shocking revelation.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office oversees Lewis’ missing person’s investigation and has stated that it has heard nothing from the FBI or DHS about Don Lewis being found. He has been presumed dead legally since 2002. Joe Exotic and most who have heard her story via Tiger King believe that at most she either killed Lewis or that she at least had him killed.
Carole Baskin maintains that she had nothing to do with his disappearance.
