Iskander’s murder came less than a month after Ahmad was killed in an ongoing gang war on the streets of Sydney, Australia. Ahmad’s side would retaliate, killing Omar Zahed and injuring Tarek Zahed of the rival Comanchero gang. Authorities in Sydney had already arrested several others who were the gunmen in the murder.
Their investigation led them to the Lambrogou couple with a search warrant. Among evidence possibly related to the crime, police also seized $500,000 in cash.
Other charges against Vincent Lambrogou include knowingly dealing with the proceeds of a crime and participating in a criminal group, and contributing to criminal group activity. Maria was hit with participating in a criminal group and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of a crime.
Authorities noted that it didn’t mean that Maria directly participated in the shooting or was an accessory to the murder.
Vincent was denied bail and is due in court on October 12, 2022. Meanwhile, Maria Lambrogou was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in court on November 1.
