Playboy Model Pamela Anderson Recalls Her Late Nights With Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange-‘It Was Romantic, He’s So Passionate’
The former star of Baywatch came across Assange during his time in the Ecuadorian Embassy, as part of his attempt to prevent himself getting extradited to the US by claiming asylum.
During this period, Anderson would visit him as they would drink throughout the night. In an interview with Variety, she said: “It was romantic because it was so inspirational. He’s so passionate about life and about everything.
“There’s just nothing that he says that isn’t fascinating. So there was definitely a connection. We would just talk through the night and drink mezcal and laugh and tell stories.”
They had initially been introduced to each other via Vivienne Westwood. This was on the grounds that Anderson wanted to discuss her animal charity with Assange.
Their friendship developed ever since that moment to the point where speculation emerged that they could be having a romance. While that may have been the case, Pamela denied doing anything of the sort.
In her comments at the time, she remarked: “We don’t have a romantic relationship like that, but I feel very close to him. And I feel closer to him than a lot of people have and he trusts me. Yes, it’s a friendship.”
It was probably just as well given that happened to Assange. In 2019, he ended up being arrested by the British authorities and taken to Belmarsh prison after the Ecuadorian embassy no longer entertained his stay.
In addition, he was then subjected to potential charges via the Espionage Act, as the attempts to get him extradited to the US continued. Despite this being the case, Anderson did visit Assange in Belmarsh.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “He does not deserve to be in a supermax prison. He has never committed a violent act. He is an innocent person.”
