Last night, we would report something potentially massive – that being that WWE was sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. However, now that the situation has time to settle, we have a better idea of what is actually happening at this point. Simply put, there is no sale completed yet, but it might not be far away.
The News Of The WWE Sale Is Untrue At This Time
Over the course of the last 24 hours, we would get some developments on this story – with most sources stepping back on the news of a sale. The current theory either indicates that someone in WWE heard talks of a potential sale of the PIF and would leak the news, or this leak was on purpose to test the reaction to such news.
Sites like TMZ & CNBC would report that WWE has not been sold to the PIF at this time, while Jon Alba would say he heard from his WWE sources that this news was simply untrue – tweeting the following.
”Well, finally got something much more firm. A high-ranking #WWE source with knowledge of the situation tells me reports of a sale or agreement to sell at this moment are “completely false.”
A Sale To Saudi Arabia Over The Following Months Is Not Out Of The Question
All this being said, a WWE sale is not out of the possibility as 2023 goes on. WWE is exploring all potential options going forward, with Saudi Arabia remaining as a potential buyer. It will take longer to conduct a possible sale, given that WWE needs to report to it’s major sponsors and more importantly their shareholders before the company is able to go private.
This is going to be a developing situation for sure, and not every report will be entirely accurate until we get a direct notice from WWE on a sale. We here at TheOvertimer will be committed to trying to deliver the most accurate information at the time to keep everyone informed of all potential happenings around a WWE sale. Right now, WWE is going to remain a publicly traded company – but big news could well be on the horizon in the coming weeks and months.
