It appears that Bryan Kohberger—the suspect in the University of Idaho killings—made a tasteless joke while jailed at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania. A source familiar with Kohberger’s questioning said that he was asked about why he killed the students and why he was in Moscow, Idaho among other questions.
University of Idaho Murder Suspect Bryan Kohberger Reportedly Made a Tasteless Joke During Questioning in Pennsylvania
He replied “I didn’t do anything,” to the question of why. It’s the more pressing question but tends to garner a mixed answer depending on the intent and guilt—or innocence—of a suspect. However, his answer “The shopping is better in Idaho,” as to why he was in Moscow, Idaho was viewed as particularly tasteless considering the circumstances.
Kohberger, a criminology student, lived in Pullman, Washington, eight miles away from Moscow, Idaho. He was locked up in Stroudsburg for several days following his arrest at his parents’ house. He was extradited to Pullman, Washington before going on to Latah County, Idaho where he will face four charges of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary on January 12, 2023.
It is so on January 12 that we can expect the affidavit detailing the murders to be released. At the moment, authorities haven’t released a motive for the stabbings nor have they found the murder weapon.
