The Acclaimed don’t need to worry about their path to AEW Revolution, as their rematch clause already has their spot in the AEW World Tag Team Championship fatal four way match confirmed. Tonight, they instead skip the Battle Royale – and look to tune their skills up against The Firm. Big Bill & Lee Moriarty have been sharpening their skills as a tag team, but can they topple for the former champions?
The Acclaimed Overcome The Firm
Caster & Moriarty would kick this match off, with Caster matching the speed of Moriarty and hitting a deep arm drag. The Acclaimed would hit a tag team backbreaker on Moriarty, before keeping Big Bill off the apron. He’d save Moriarty from Scissor Me Timbers, allowing The Firm to take control.
Bill would hit some clubbing blows to the back, before asking Moriarty to keep the pressure on. The Firm would work to cut the ring in half, with Caster kept in their corner as The Gunns would hit the ramp. Also aligned with The Firm, they would cheer on Bill & Moriarty, who had a chance to greatly weaken The Acclaimed tonight.
Caster would use his speed to complete the tag to Bowens, who would hit the ring alongside Moriarty. Modified Fame Asser would land, before the Inverted Torture Rack slam. Bill would be cut down with a series of strikes, before coming back with a stiff big boot to the face. The Gunns would hit ringside to beat up their father Billy Gunn, before The Acclaimed ran them off.
Bill would be driven into the ring post, as Moriarty hit The Fang in the ring for a two count. Leg Lariat was avoided, before Bowens hit The Arrival. Mic Drop from Caster would follow, and The Acclaimed have some extra momentum heading into AEW Revolution. The Gunns would walk away with a sour look on their face – but with gold over their shoulders.
Christian Cage Won’t Be Outsmarted By Jack Perry
Last week on AEW Dynamite, ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry was able to defeat Brian Cage. He would make his intentions to chase gold clear, only to be met by the returning Christian Cage. Christian would use pepper spray to incapacitate his former protege, before showing his shoulder was healed and hitting The Killswitch. Tonight we hear from the professional wrestling legend, as he sits down with Tony Schiavone.
Before Cage had a chance to speak, Perry would run him down with a spear before a sliding elbow to the back of the head. A clear and quick message was sent, and the Hall of Fame caliber Christian Cage was left laying. Perry would grab two steel chairs, but he’d hesitate before the Conchairto – allowing Cage to hit the low blow. Cage smacked Perry in the face with the chair, and left his former protege bloody.
Saraya Gets First Singles Win On AEW Dynamite
Since returning to AEW, Saraya has let her mask slip. She came into the promotion with a babyface fire as she returned to the ring for the first time in years, but has since soured on AEW. Saraya views their original talent as being far beneath her skills, even the likes of Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter. Tonight, she looks to make quick work of rising star Skye Blue as she wrestles her first singles match in AEW Dynamite history.
Blue would start off hot with some elbow smashes before sending Saraya into the corner with an arm drag. Toni Storm would stop Blue from hitting a diving crossbody, and Saraya distracted the referee as Storm hit a snap suplex. Saraya would get a two count in the ring, before applying the Cobra Twist.
Octopus Stretch would be blocked into a modified Air Raid Crash, getting Saraya a two count. Blue would fight back with some strikes in the corner, before the flying crossbody. Rising knee and shotgun dropkick followed, but Storm distracted the referee. Blue would take Storm down, only to take a superkick and being locked in the former PTO for the victory.
Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker saved Blue from being humiliated after the bell, and the battle lines remain intact. Ruby Soho would come out and try to challenge Hayter, and Hayter would seemingly accept.
