When Hangman Page & Jon Moxley were finally set to meet over the AEW World Championship in 2022, fans wondered why his wasn’t a PPV match. It was a simple match of two clear fan favourites, both of whom could call themselves the Ace of AEW. The first match ended with Hangman Page getting rocked with a lariat, putting him on the shelf with a concussion, while Jon Moxley mocked him on live TV. Page would return in January 2023, and would get his revenge with a victory over Moxley. Now, they’re back in Ohio where this all began – and it’s time for Round III.

Jon Moxley & Hangman Page Kick Off Dynamite With A Wild Brawl

Moxley would bring his father Dan to the ring with him tonight, adding some extra motivation tonight. Page would be attacked on his way down the ring, with a chorus of boo’s from the crowd stealing his attention and allowing for Moxley This brawl would move into the crowd, with the bell having not rung yet, with Moxley hitting a double axe handle off the barricade.

Page would be taken into the Figure Four Leg Lock by Moxley, starting the damage to the leg. Moxley would attack Page with a chair before wrapping it around the leg, and looking to come off the apron. The referee would stop this, before Page threw the chair at the face of Moxley. They’d finally get into the ring and trade blows, with Moxley already having a cut forming above his eyes.

Moxley would take Page down to the mat and got him in the Indian Deathlock, with Page able to get the bottom rope. Page would hit a German Suplex, and the blood was starting to affect the vision of Moxley – but he’s used to fighting big matches only seeing out of one eye. Moxley & Page would trade strikes in the middle of the ring, before Page would hit the Fallaway Slam to send Moxley to the apron.

Triangle Lariat would be blocked with a lariat from Moxley, with Moxley just swinging blind like this name was Stan Hansen. Moxley would apply the sleeper hold on the apron, before trying to shift into the piledriver. Page would nearly get the Deadeye instead but would settle for just throwing Moxley into the ring post head first.

Neither Man Knows The Meaning Of The Word Quit

Moxley would be levelled with a heavy forearm smash on the floor, before Page rolled him into the ring and tried to stomp Moxley’s head in. Page took too long to get that first stomp in, and Moxley was able to block and send Page into the corner. Moxley would battle tooth and nail in the corner to set up a superplex, with Page instead able to get the Avalanche Death Valley Driver.

This would somehow only get a two count, and Moxley was able to bounce back with a cutter. The match would reset as both men struggled to their feet, and traded some heavy blows in the middle of the ring. Moxley would throw some rare kicks before getting the Sleeper Hold applied.

Page would counter with a backdrop driver, only to have Moxley roll to his feet and hit a backdrop of his own. Moxley would hit the Front Chancery Suplex off the top rope before looking for the Bulldog Choke – only to have to settle for the Cross Armbreaker, with Page getting his foot on the bottom rope. Page would launch Moxley out to the floor, but wasn’t able to hit the moonsault.

He’d manage to stick the landing, only for Moxley to drop him with a lariat. Moxley would clear the announce table, only for Page to hit a Pop Up Powerbomb through the table. Page would land the lariat and Deadeye as Moxley hit the ring – but this combo somehow just got the two count.

Moxley Knows How To Counter His Own Finisher

Page would look to hit a move from the past of Moxley with a Curb Stomp, only for it to be avoided and the King Kong Lariat would land. Moxley didn’t get the KO this time around, with Page getting back up and trading strikes with Moxley in the middle of the ring. Page was able to hit the God’s Last Gift, setting up the Buckshot – which was blocked into an attempt at Death Rider.

Moxley was unable to spike Page, and would instead take a Tombstone Piledriver. Buckshot Lariat would land, but Moxley was able to kick out. Bulldog Choke would be applied – and Page was ready to choke out Moxley with his own finishing hold. Moxley would counter into a flash pinfall – and that was enough for the victory.

After the match, Page would want to keep the fight going – but Blackpool Combat Club would ensure there was no post match brawl. However, a flash pinfall doesn’t end a feud – and we will see a Round IV someday soon.
