When Orange Cassidy was able to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Lee Moriarty on AEW Rampage – he’d be beaten down by some old foes. Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett attacked right after the bell, with Jarrett using his trusty guitar. Tonight, they meet Cassidy in eight man tag team action – as Cassidy teams with former AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn. This match comes just one day after the death of Jeff Jarrett’s father and legendary professional wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett – who this show is in honour of.

Star Studded 8 Man Tag Team Action Kicks Off AEW Dynamite

Max Caster would say that while Jerry was a legend, Jeff is just a douchebag, and that when they’re done with them tonight – they’re getting their titles back from The Gunns. Lethal & Bowens would start the match with some chain wrestling in the middle of the ring. Figure Four Leg Lock was blocked into an inside cradle, before Bowens would hit his own version of the Fameasser.

Caster would get the tag and nailed a powerslam for a two count. Lethal would force Caster into the corner for a tag to Jarrett, who was launched with an armdrag into a dropkick. 7’4” Satnam Singh would take the ring, with Cassidy getting the tag – and Singh not knowing what to do with someone that small. Dutt tagged in, and Cassidy tagged out to Gunn.

At this moment, The Gunns would come to ringside to try and distract both Billy & The Acclaimed, with Jarrett able to hit a back elbow to put Gunn on the middle rope. Hotshot was followed by the Jackie Fargo strut, before some heavy stomps in the middle of the ring. Lethal would keep the pressure on with a spinning neckbreaker, with Gunn getting isolated… despite Dutt not being effective in his attacks.

Singh looked to finish Gunn off, only for Gunn to nearly match his size – only to run him down with a lariat. Orange Punch was blocked with ease before Cassidy was thrown into the corner. Dutt got the tag as Singh was taken down with the Fameasser. Dutt would beg off to distract the referee, leading to the match breaking down in a hurry. Cassidy hit the Orange Punch to Dutt, and The Acclaimed would end this match with Scissor Me Timbers. They’d send a message to The Gunns, that they want their belts back.

Texas Tornado Tag Team Action In Laredo Texas Starts With Wild Brawl

Since making his AEW debut, RUSH has been one of the more dominant names on the roster. Tonight, he gets another chance to prove this as he teams with Preston Vance against Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli of the Blackpool Combat Club in a Texas Tornado match – meaning no tags and less rules. Given Castagnoli’s status as ROH World Champion, RUSH has a chance to earn a big title match tonight – if he can pin the champion.

This match would kick off out in the crowd, with Vance & RUSH jumping the BCC before the bell. Castagnoli would gain ground first against Vance, as Moxley punched RUSH in the face during a headlock. They’d all brawl up into the crowd, with BCC right at home in this type of fight. Moxley would drag RUSH to ringside in a headlock before some punches against the barricade.

Vance was brought to ringside with a suplex, as Moxley was thrown into the barricade. Moxley was thrown face first into the ring bell, as Vance caught Castagnoli with a suplex. RUSH was put into a Figure Four Leg Lock by Moxley, with Vance helping him free. Moxley & Vance hit the ring, getting the match officially started. RUSH & Vance would stomp Moxley in the middle of the ring, before RUSH set up a spinebuster from Vance.

Castagnoli would hit the ring to even the odds, hitting a springboard uppercut. Modified Angle Slam would follow, as two steel chairs were shoved into the ring by Moxley. RUSH & Moxley brawled some more on the floor, with RUSH launched into the corner. Castagnoli hit the bulldog onto the steel chair, before Vance was thrown back first into a chair packed corner.

Jon Moxley Brings Success To Blackpool Combat Club With Some Chain Wrestling

BCC would hit a double big boot on RUSH, before Moxley hit the dive to the floor. Castagnoli would brawl with Vance in the ring, before being sent to the floor. Vance would catch Moxley on the apron with a spear, landing on Castagnoli & RUSH on the floor. RUSH & Vance would batter the shoulder of Castagnoli with steel chairs, and Moxley was bleeding at ringside.

Moxley was pulled into the ring and mocked by Vance as he was held down by RUSH. Bulls Horns were set, but RUSH instead hit a mocking kick to the face. Vance & RUSH would stretch Moxley and sandwich his head with boots in the middle of the ring, but Moxley would find his way to fight free. A clubbing lariat took RUSH down, only for Vance to hit Moxley with a chain.

Castagnoli would hit the ring and get the chair around his fist – mauling Vance in the corner with some stiff strikes. Vance was busted open with a big shot to the face, before Castagnoli would hit the Giant Swing – getting a two count as RUSH broke the pinfall up. Moxley took RUSH down with a cutter before taking a Brodie Lee style Discus Lariat from Vance.

All four men would brawl in the middle of the ring, with RUSH dropped with the European Uppercut. Jose The Assistant would hit Castagnoli with a steel chair to block the Neutralizer, and Wheeler Yuta took Jose out of the match. RUSH would try for Bulls Horns but was hit with a spear. Moxley would choke out Vance with the chain – applying an armbar to really seal the deal as BCC gets the win.

Samoa Joe Messed With The Connection Of Wardlow & His Late Father

Ross would bring up the tag team past of Wardlow & Joe, saying they must have shared personal stories in their time together. Wardlow would share one of the stories about his dad, who was absent as a child – and only really connected as his dad got Stage 4 Cancer. This was when Wardlow just started wrestling, and his dad made it to his first indy show.

Wardlow would say that his last words to his father were about how he will try to be an even better man than his dad was. This was when Wardlow decided to start growing out his hair and beard, and when Joe cut the braid of Wardlow off? He took the connection of Wardlow & his dad away. That is why this is now about more than just the TNT Championship – Joe made this personal.

Will Wardlow defeat Samoa Joe? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
