It looks as though Hook—the son of ECW legend and former WWE superstar/commentator Taz—has been suspended from AEW action. The announcement was made on the 2/15 episode of AEW Dynamite and fans weren’t with it on social media.
AEW Superstar Hook “Suspended” and Social Media Just Wasn’t Feeling It
Since his AEW debut, Hook really captured fans’ attention with many calling him a future major player for the company in the future. However, when Tony Schiavone announced the suspension backstage, Twitter really got active for AEW with most voicing their anger at the move as it relates to the youngster’s progress.
The thing here is that Hook was suspended for something that is pretty commonplace in wrestling: attacking someone. It appears that fans weren’t upset at the suspension but the use of the suspension. It sets up a precedent that we know wrestling picks and chooses to enforce.
In the same segment, Stoney Hathaway and his clients The Firm showed and aired their grievances at the suspension and filed a complaint about Hook breaking his hand in a match that resulted in the suspension.
It will be interesting to see where this goes. While it is a head-scratching move considering we’ve seen worse attacks on AEW television. Hell, we’ve seen aggressors not only show up next week but discuss the attack on live television.
What do you think of the suspension? It anything it points to there being plans for Hook in AEW but was this segment to do it? Where do you see things going from here?
