When it comes to AEW signings that could have been used better – a common name that used to be cited was Brian Cage. Initially brought in as a protege of Taz, Cage would quickly find himself in the mix with the likes of Jon Moxley, only to vanish from TV. However, over the past six months Cage has found his way back to TV – and has become a show stealer once again. With his AEW contract having recently ended, Chris Jericho feels AEW should make a deal to keep Cage around.
Chris Jericho Has Been Impressed With Brian Cage Over The Last Six Months
While speaking with Matty Paddock of The Daily Star, Chris Jericho would take a moment to praise the recent performances of Brian Cage. Jericho was quoted saying the following.
“I think Brian Cage over the last six months is the best Brian Cage has ever been. I think he’s finally starting to understand some of the psychology of wrestling rather than just moves and that sort of thing. He is one of a kind with his size and agility, but now there is more intensity and I think he’s really understanding who he is as a wrestler. Six months ago I might have said ‘Well, whatever, if he says that’s cool,’ but now I think he has become a way more valuable part of our roster and I would sign him for sure. Absolutely.”
The contract of Cage is reported to end in a few weeks time, with no deal confirmed at this time. There is interest from WWE in bringing in Cage, which could lead to him getting an even better offer within AEW. Right now, Cage holds the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championships alongside Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona – which is all that really tethers Cage to AEW.
We saw Cage in action the past two weeks on AEW Dynamite, losing to both Bryan Danielson & Konosuke Takeshita. Will Brian Cage stick around in AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
