That is according to royal expert Angela Levin. Those comments were in relation to Meghan recalling the first time she had met Kate. But rather than it being the warm embrace that she expected, it appears that Meghan got something else.
So much so that she was taken aback by the lack of warmth she felt, by even going so far as to refer to the occasion as ‘jarring.’ In her comments at the time, she said: “I was a hugger, always been a hugger.
“I didn’t realize that is really jarring for a lot of Brits. I’d start to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside, carried through on the inside.”
However, those comments were in stark contrast to Kate when she was reunited with her teacher Jim Embury. Kate happened to be visiting Cornwall alongside Prince William, as part of their first visit since their new titles.
And once Kate realised that Jim was there, she did not waste her time embracing him, as shown by the images here, with her massive smile. And for Angela, this was seen as a way to respond to Meghan’s prior jibes.
In her comments, Angela said: “I actually wondered whether Kate was doing it to show that she could because I think it’s really unusual for you to hug your former history teacher. I never hugged any of my teachers.”
Regardless of what the case may have been, it is fair to say that Meghan and Kate are not close. After all, even at the reunion at Windsor after Queen Elizabeth II’s death, the two did not communicate to each other in public.
