In addition to developing close relationships with her colleagues, her growing fame provided her with access to well-known social circles, which eventually resulted in her meeting her future husband, Prince Harry.
Surprisingly, Meghan’s original audition for the program, which was initially called A Legal Mind, didn’t turn out as expected.
In a candid post on her blog The Tig, Meghan admits that she stumbled over her lines during an audition and was so upset afterwards that she had to ring her agent and inform her that she would not be cast in the role.
In her comments at the time, she said: “‘I blew it.’ That’s what I said to my agent after my audition for a pilot called A Legal Mind. ‘I kept forgetting my lines, I was distracted, and I blew it.
“Which sucks because I really wanted this one. I really like Rachel. But I blew it. I wanted it, and I lost my shot at it. Or so I thought.”
Despite her dissatisfaction with her performance, the producers were still taken with her after the audition. After obtaining the part, Meghan had to relocate to New York City to shoot the initial episode, and then to Canada to film the entire show.
When she and Harry stepped away from their royal duties, Meghan talked about her time as a striving actress during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
In some prior comments, Meghan remarked: “I would park on gate three and I would scoot on over and the security guards here would always say ‘break a leg, I hope you get it.’ So driving today was very different.”
