Before her death, the former Princess of Wales, Princess Diana, allegedly shared with her close friends that had she known how difficult and unpleasant the divorce proceedings were going to be, she would not have gone through with it.
Princess Diana’s Letters Reveal She Was Struggling In The Firm-‘I Am Having A Very Difficult Time, My Lines Here Are Constantly Recorded’
Never-seen-before letters penned by Diana exposed her distress at the dissolution of her marriage to the then Prince Charles. The set of 32 letters composed by Diana are going to be auctioned off by Lay’s Auctioneers on Thursday, 16th February 2023.
The letters were written to Diana’s friends Susie and Tarek Kassem. The two were of the opinion that it was their duty to sell off the collection, rather than passing it on to their children or grandchildren.
The collection is presumed to make up to around 160,000 Australian dollars. And once the funds are received, it is expected that the money will be used to support various charities.
Unsurprisingly, then, the letter demonstrated just how unhappy Diana had been in the firm. One letter stated: “I am having a very difficult time and pressure is serious and coming from all sides.
“It’s too difficult sometimes to keep one’s head up and today I am on my knees and just longing for this divorce to go through as the possible cost is tremendous.”
Meanwhile, another letter was even more damning. Diana voiced worries that transcripts of her intimate conversations were being shared with the monarchy, being concerned that her telephone at Kensington Palace had been tapped.
Another letter confirmed as much: “As I don’t have a mobile it is difficult to discuss personal issues as my lines here are constantly recorded and passed on.”
The response on social media was damning. Large numbers of people made it clear that this was the reason why Prince Harry may have decided to cut ties with the firm. One person wrote: “It should be no wonder why Harry left.”
