In an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, with Anderson Cooper, Prince Harry confessed he used to view clips of his mother, the late Princess Diana, in an endeavor to bring back memories of her in order to make himself cry at her passing.
Prince Harry Admits He Watched Videos Of His Mother In Order To Make Himself Cry
The 38-year-old expressed his guilt at not being able to cry over his mother’s death in 1997. In his comments, Harry said: “There was this weight on my chest that I felt for so many years that I was never able to cry.
“So I was constantly trying to find a way to cry, but… in even sitting on my sofa and going over as many memories as I could muster up about my mum. And sometimes I watched videos online.”
Harry admitted that he attempted to cry but was unable to, and this caused him to feel remorseful for a long time. He felt a sense of guilt when he and his brother, Prince William, encountered the throngs of people who had gathered to mourn Diana’s passing on the day of her funeral.
Harry was surprised at the amount of people who were weeping for his mother’s death. Harry added: “I do remember one of the strangest parts to it was taking flowers from people and then placing those flowers with the rest of them.
“As if I was some sort of middle person for their grief. And that really stood out for me.” Harry had difficulty managing his despair for numerous years – and expressed that it wasn’t until he started going to therapy and testing with psychedelic substances that he genuinely started to confront his mother’s demise.
The Duke of Sussex told Cooper that substances like ayahuasca and magic mushrooms were his ‘medicine’, saying that using psychedelics when he got older eventually erased the notion that he had to be unhappy to demonstrate that he remembered his mother.
It is fair to say that Harry did have a lot on his mind. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
