Wes Lee has had a long road since last years Vengeance Day. One year ago, he was still in a tag team with Nash Carter – losing the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to The Creed Brothers. MSK would earn their title shot for Stand & Deliver, only for Carter to be released. Now – Lee stands alone, with the NXT North American Championship around his waist as he faces his biggest challenge to date. Dijak is back in NXT, and Lee refused to just hand the belt over – so Dijak intends to take it from his broken body tonight.
Dijak Has Never Held A Championship Within WWE
Lee would try to lock up with Dijak as this match began, being easily shoved off. He’d leap to grab a headlock on Dijak, before being send off the ropes for a shoulder tackle. Lee was given a chance to lay down and end this now, and he’d sucker Dijak into a kick to the face, before trying for a German Suplex.
Dijak would easily avoid this, but a springboard dragonrana would send him off the apron. Lee would send Dijak to the floor with a kick, only to dive off the apron and being caught into a Death Valley Driver. Back in the ring, Lee would be beaten into the corner with some clubbing strikes – only to be thrown across the ring with a release suplex for a two count.
The crowd would look to get behind Lee, only for a running crossbody to be caught into a backbreaker before simply being thrown to the floor like a trash bag to the curb. Dijak would follow Lee to the floor and throw him into the barricade, before taking him back into the ring – knowing he can’t become champion with a count out.
Lee would be thrown hard across the ring, but was able to duck a running shoulder tackle from Dijak – getting a much needed chance to breathe as Dijak tumbled out to the floor. With Dijak back in the ring, Lee would hit some stiff kicks to the head before a Bridging German Suplex for a near fall – showing his absolutely insane level of power for his size. Lee would be able to follow up with a Back Body Drop off the apron, before the Space Flying Tiger Drop kept the pressure on.
Wes Lee Shows He’s No One Note Wrestler
Dijak would look to end this with Feast Your Eyes in the ring – only to instead be hit with a Poisonrana. Lee would again show he’s stronger than he looks with a Fisherman Driver, with Dijak able to kick out. A springboard would be caught into the High Justice Chokeslam, getting Dijak a near fall.
Crossface Chickenwing would be applied in the middle of the ring – and Lee was trapped. Dijak would take this hold to the mat, and Lee would nearly pass out, but found his final rush of energy. Lee would be lifted into Feast Your Eyes, but blocked into a roll up before hitting a superkick, with Dijak coming back with a spinning big boot.
A superkick and a lariat would follow, but Lee would still refuse to stay down – Booker T claiming Lee has a “heart the size of Texas” for his performance tonight. Dijak would look to pull Lee up to the top rope, going for a Avalanche Powerbomb – with Lee somehow countering in mid air with a frankensteiner. Spiral Tap would follow – and Dijak still found a way to kick out.
Dijak would roll to the floor, and Lee tried to follow with a dive, only to be directed into the barricade instead. Lee would be trapped in a chair with a broom, leaving him defenceless to a superkick. Dijak would look for the moonsault, but Tony D’Angelo & Stacks would be there to save Lee – taking the moonsault instead.
Lee would block a springboard with a superkick before the back handspring kick for the victory – retaining his NXT North American Championship in the process. Never bet against Wes Lee.
