Austin Theory is on his way to his biggest match to date at WrestleMania 39. He’s set to defend the WWE United States Championship against John Cena. That is a monumental match for anyone – especially someone so young in his career like Theory. His career has been on a constant rise since joining WWE, but he credits one man for getting him to that stage, and that’s AR Fox.
Austin Theory Reveals How Important AR Fox Was To His Career
Currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, AR Fox is well respected in the industry for both his in-ring skills and for his work as a trainer. While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Austin Theory would have the following to say about his old trainer.
“It’s amazing, especially the talent he has and the mindset he has for wrestling. He was the first person that showed me anything at a wrestling school and he took me under his wing and he sacrificed a lot for me to get to where I am. So, I appreciate him a lot and, yeah, I can’t say nothing but good things for him. I’m happy for him.”
Theory uses a few spots he learned from Fox, namely the springboard Spanish Fly out of the corner. We are likely to see that done to Cena at WrestleMania, as Theory will likely look to use everything in his arsenal to try to defeat a legend of the industry.
AR Fox Has Found A Solid Niche In AEW
Right now in AEW & Ring of Honor, Fox has settled into a solid midcard niche. He recently faced Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship on the main event of the first episode of HonorClub TV. In AEW, he’s been linked to Top Flight winning the $300,000 Dollar Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Battle Royal and challenging for the AEW World Trios Championships on a few occasions.
It seems likely that given the past of Fox as a trainer, he’s been linked to young talent like Top Flight as he’s helping to coach them backstage. Fox will likely find a long career as a trainer with AEW, as they have a constant flow of young talent scouted through shows like AEW Dark.
