Ricky Starks was able to defeat Chris Jericho twice in 2023, and when he asked what was next – he was met by Juice Robinson.
Aligned with the BULLET CLUB faction in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Robinson is a man with some important friends in this industry. He’d lay Starks out with Pulp Friction, and tonight – we kick off Dynamite with a big time grudge match.
Jay White Arrives In All Elite Wrestling, Keith Lee Confronts Chris Jericho
Instead of the BULLET CLUB theme song, we’d hear the music of Jay White. Recently cast out of NJPW by Eddie Kingston, it was up in the air where he would land – AEW or WWE. After he was not seen at WrestleMania or Monday Night RAW, many assumed that White was AEW bound.
Alongside Robinson, he would be able to leave Ricky Starks laying in the middle of the ring with ease.
Starks was caught off guard, and will look for revenge on Jay White – perhaps setting the stage for a big first time singles match at Double or Nothing 2023. The match between Robinson & Starks was deemed a no contest.
Following this debut, we’d catch up with Chris Jericho – who called out Adam Cole for lacking respect. Keith Lee might not like Adam Cole, but he respects him – and he can’t say the same for Jericho. Next week, Lee has called out Jericho for a match, where he will teach him the meaning of respect.
House of Black Show Trios Dominance
It was only a matter of time before House of Black claimed the AEW World Trios Championships – and when that time came, even The Elite were unable to stop them.
After defeating The Elite & Jericho Appreciation Society in a triple threat in Winnipeg – people really took notice of just how well rounded of a trio House of Black are.
Now tonight, they look to notch another defence as they face the AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, and The Best Friends – Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor.
Malakai Black would kick things off with Beretta, with a display of chain wrestling following. Beretta was able to fight to his feet, before trading strikes with Black.
A backdrop suplex was attempted, with Black catching Beretta with a roll up as a counter. Taylor would get the tag, before being cut down by a roll from Black. Brody King would hit the ring, with Taylor able to force a tag to Buddy Matthews.
Cassidy would hit the ring, with Matthews ducking the Orange Punch and blocking the Satellite DDT. Cassidy would be driven face first into the House of Black corner with Snake Eyes, and a six man brawl would follow.
House of Black were sent to the floor, with King crushing Taylor with a crossbody into the barricade. Black & Matthews caught a flying Cassidy, and threw him face first into the ring apron.
Beretta would try to fly next, but was caught and also thrown into the apron – before being tossed into a forearm smash from King.
King would take this back to the ring briefly, before Beretta was thrown out to the floor with ease. Taylor would revive Beretta and get him back into the ring – where Black kept the pressure on.
Best Friends Once Again Only Come Close To Victory
Cassidy would get the tag, and was able to use the speed of King against him – sending him through the ropes and onto his partners.
Beretta & Taylor would launch Cassidy onto House of Black, before the Double Chokeslam/Powerbomb combo would get a two count. Watching from ringside was RUSH, Dralistico & Preston Vance – who are looking for their own title shot.
Orange Punch was avoided by Black, with Matthews hitting the pumping knee smash. Cassidy would manage to hit the Stundog Millionaire, before tagging Beretta into the match.
A stiff lariat was followed by a piledriver for Matthews & Black, but King was too heavy to lift for the move at this time. Cassidy would weaken him with the Orange Punch, and Beretta hit the Piledriver – with Black ready to break the pinfall up.
Taylor would get a two count off a roll up on Matthews, before Sole Food was blocked. An Architect Stomp would follow – and Taylor was down for the three count. Best Friends came close again – but close doesn’t make you champions.
