Once upon a time, Wheeler Yuta was part of Best Friends in AEW alongside Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor – but he turned his back on them for Blackpool Combat Club. Yuta has pent up anger about his time in Best Friends, claiming they taught him nothing – but Cassidy reminded him that was never the point. Tonight, he has a chance to face his former mentor in the ring as the AEW All-Atlantic Championship is on the line.
Claudio Castagnoli Tells Yuta To Win The Match And Stop Being Pretty
Cassidy would offer a handshake, but Yuta refused to took a swipe at Cassidy. Yuta would be grounded with a quick armdrag, before being rolled into a Cradle Pinfall for the two count. Cassidy proved he can match Yuta on the mat, BCC Dojo training be damned. Yuta would take a breather before tripping Cassidy on the mat and applying a leg lock.
Cassidy would slip free, before being rolled up for a two count. Yuta would be put into the Seatbelt Clutch, a move that Yuta has used as a finisher – that was taught to him by Trent Beretta. Claudio Castagnoli came to ringside and slapped Yuta, telling him to stop the pretty mat wrestling and win the match.
Cassidy would be run down with a lariat, before a dive to the floor. Yuta would send Cassidy crashing into the barricades, before tossing him over the timekeeper’s table. His job done, Castagnoli would return to the back as Cassidy was thrown into the ring post. Yuta would hit some stiff chops in the corner, with Cassidy would put his hands in his pockets welcoming the hard strikes.
Cassidy would absorb the strikes before the shotgun dropkick. Yuta would be driven head first into the turnbuckle, before a diving DDT from Cassidy was blocked. Cassidy would take the flying elbow strike, before a sliding dropkick sent Cassidy to the floor. Yuta would chop Cassidy down as he got back into the ring.

Back in the ring, Satellite DDT would follow, before the Beach Break was countered into a piledriver. Hammer & Anvil Elbows was going to set up the Seatbelt, but Cassidy countered and looked for it himself to little success. Orange Punch would land – and Yuta barely kicked out. Beach Break followed, and Yuta fired up to kick out at two, only to be put down with the Orange Punch.
Ricky Starks Has An Open Contract For Revolution
Ricky Starks has been the latest rival of Chris Jericho in AEW, having defeated Jericho to start his year. Jericho proved to be a sore loser, having Jake Hager beat Starks down after the bell. Since then, they’ve met in tag team clashes and Starks even tried to run a gauntlet match – with Jericho staying one step ahead. Tonight, just ahead of AEW Revolution – Starks is ready to call out Jericho one more time.
Starks would lament the cowardly tactics and cheating of Jericho, saying that it’s clear Jericho doesn’t want the rematch. Because of this, Starks is going to move on. He has an open contract for a match at AEW Revolution, and he’s willing to face anyone. Chris Jericho would make his way to the ring, taking his time as the crowd sung his theme song.
Jericho would say that he’s not falling for the blatant bait of Starks, saying that Starks should take the career defining victory and move on. Starks would never beat Jericho again, he’s not on the same level. The music of Peter Avalon would hit, and he would look to take the challenge – only to take a Judas Effect.
Jericho would accept the contract himself, with Starks saying to leave the J.A.S in the back for this match. Bring back the Jericho who won the AEW World Championship himself, and do the job himself. Jericho would be baited into signing the deal and banning the J.A.S – and we have a PPV match.
