Jack Perry is a man on a mission these days – wanting to claim his first singles championship in All Elite Wrestling. A former AEW World Tag Team Champion, Perry has now set his sights on the AEW World Championship. MJF has claimed that Perry doesn’t have the guts to take the top spot – but tonight, Perry hopes to dispel that thought.
Three Of The Four Pillars Are Here With A Lot To Say
Kicking off the show, Perry would barely get three words out before Sammy Guevara would interrupt. Guevara is a former 3x TNT Champion, and also is looking to get that next shot at MJF. Much like Perry, Guevara would only get a few words in before Darby Allin would interrupt him – and Allin is a 2x TNT Champion.
Three of the four pillars of AEW would take their places in the ring, and Allin would say that he has known Guevara a long time – and respects him.
However, in the eyes of fans – Guevara isn’t ready for the top. He’s a follower, not a leader. Allin doesn’t follow Sting like Guevara follows Jericho, Allin & Sting are equals. Simply put, Allin feels Guevara is held back by Jericho.
Perry meanwhile, was handpicked for AEW from the start. Allin was jealous at first, but nothing about Perry intimidated him – and that hasn’t changed.
Perry would insist that fans would not respect him, if they knew the real Darby Allin. He would point out that Allin’s first choice wasn’t even AEW, he’s only here because he was a failed skateboarder.
Guevara is someone that Perry respects meanwhile, because for better or for worse – what you see is what you get with. That is a scumbag, but Guevara never tries to hide that.
The Pillar Tournament Starts Tonight
Guevara would point out that Perry & MJF are alike, handpicked golden boys from day one – all the way back to Double or Nothing 2019.
Even Revolution 2023 – Guevara & Allin didn’t make the card, but MJF & Perry were front and centre. Allin & Guevara both risk their lives to climb the card – and Allin was the first pillar to win gold. That gave Guevara hope, and drove him to one up Allin at every stage.
Now, Allin can sit back and watch Guevara win the AEW World Championship. Perry would declare himself as the next AEW World Champion, and intends to do it for everyone who has supported him from day one.
MJF would finally hit the ramp, and despite a negative reaction from the crowd – he had a microphone. He’d be blushing as three people fought over the chance to lose to him.
MJF has gone to Tony Khan, and wants to decide the next challenge. The Pillars Tournament – with the winner getting a title shot at Double Or Nothing 2023.
Darby Allin had his name pulled from a hat, and gets a first round bye – and tonight, we get Jack Perry vs. Sammy Guevara in the main event for the first time ever. The winner advances to face Allin, and the winner of that match faces MJF at Double or Nothing.
Britt Baker Is Hard To Beat In Brittsburgh
Whenever AEW hits Pittsburgh – it turns into Brittsburgh. Britt Baker is the hometown hero – and tonight, she is in a major tag team match. Alongside Jamie Hayter, Baker has been brawling with The Outcasts for months.
The AEW roster has had a hard time dealing with the likes of Ruby Soho & Toni Storm – but tonight, the AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker intend to show them how it’s done.
Baker & Hayter would be attacked before the bell – with Storm driving Hatter into the barricade. Hayter was able to regain control in the ring, hitting a double suplex on both Soho & Storm.
Storm would be set for a big lariat, but was able to block with an elbow smash. Soho would hit a quick kick on Hayter, before Storm sent the champion to the floor with a hip attack. Baker would look to hit the Panama Sunrise on the floor, but was stopped by The Outcasts.
Back in the ring, Hayter would take a Back Heel Trip, before Soho applied a tight front headlock. Storm would stomp Hayter into the corner, and The Outcasts had the champion isolated. This would not last, as Hayter broke free and tagged Baker into the match.
The crowd would erupt as Baker hit Slingblades, Superkicks and Backstabbers to regain control of this match. Storm hit a German Suplex and set up Storm Zero, but took an Air Raid Crash instead.
Soho would be able to catch Baker in the corner with Deadly Nightshade – before Storm hit the hip attack Saraya would use the AEW Women’s World Championship as a weapon, but Baker was still able to kick out. Panama Sunrise & The Curb Stomp would be followed by Lockjaw, and Baker got the win.
Will The Outcasts get their revenge against Baker & Hayter? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
