Last week, we got the announcement of the first ever Four Pillars Tournament in AEW. It would contain the AEW World Champion MJF, and his three prospective challengers in Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, & Jack Perry.
MJF & Guevara would come together in a deal, and together would screw Perry in the main event of Dynamite. In addition to this, Guevara was handed a blank check – which will cash if he lays down for MJF at Double or Nothing.Tonight, Guevara simply needs to defeat one of his rivals in Darby Allin – and the main event spot of Double or Nothing is his.
Darby Allin Looks To Foil The Plans Of Guevara & MJF
Guevara would be taken down to the mat with a side headlock takeover as MJF joined commentary. Allin would avoid a chop in the corner, before blocking an armdrag into another side headlock takeover. Guevara would break free, and flipped over Allin before hitting a dropkick.
Allin would be able to catch Guevara in a Texas Cloverleaf, with Guevara using the bottom rope to get free. A jumping knee to the back would send Allin to the floor, where Guevara would whip him into the corner. Guevara would end up in the ropes where Allin stomped on his neck – choking Guevara using the ropes.
Allin tried for a German Suplex to the floor, but Guevara blocked with a low blow – managing to land the blow without the referee seeing.
Asai Moonsault would follow, before Guevara applied the Walls Of Jericho in the middle of the ring. Allin would make the long crawl to the bottom rope, before stopping Guevara from diving off the top rope.
Allin would have his eyes raked, before Guevara succeeded in nailing a Frog Splash for a near fall. The Three Amigo Suplexes were meant to follow, but the third was blocked into a Scorpion Death Drop. Guevara would roll to the floor, and caught a Suicide Dive into a last second cutter.
Sammy Guevara Tries To Cheat His Way To A Main Event, Tony Khan Doesn’t Let This Stand
Guevara would grab a table from underneath the ring, and set it up at ringside. Allin would hit some desperate chops, setting up Guevara on that same table.
Tay Melo would make the save as Allin looked to dive onto Guevara, allowing a chance for Guevara to make it into the ring and hit the top rope Spanish Fly for a two count.
Allin would be set up on the table, before Guevara took flight with the 630 Senton – crashing down through Allin and the table.
Guevara nearly got the count out victory, but Allin rolled back in at the last second. Melo would distract the referee, as MJF came to ringside – grabbing the skateboard of Allin… and throwing it to him.
Guevara would drop without being struck, and Allin was caught with the smoking gun. It was a DQ – and MJF would beat down Allin after the bell. Tony Khan would look to overrule this as Jack Perry hit the ring to save Allin.
Khan would announce that the main event of Double Or Nothing 2023 will not be MJF vs. Sammy Guevara – but instead a Fatal Four Way match also containing Perry & Allin. This is provided that Allin & Perry can beat MJF & Guevara next week in a tag team match.
Roderick Strong Comes To Aid Of Chris Jericho
When Adam Cole & Chris Jericho met face to face last week on AEW Dynamite, everyone knew it would end in a brawl. After a heated exchange of words, Jericho & Cole would fight it out – with Britt Baker coming to the aid of Cole.
Cole would end up handcuffed to the ring ropes by Jericho, and forced to watch as The Outcasts member Saraya would beat Baker down with a kendo stick. Tonight, we will hear from Cole – and everyone expects a declaration of war against the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Cole would call the actions of Jericho unforgivable, he crossed a line and can’t come back. Jericho would be called for the ring, with Cole promising to smash his face and beat him within inches of his life. Cole would get impatient waiting for Jericho to come to the ring, and was ready to go find him.
Jericho’s music would hit – but he’d appear on the screen. He didn’t want to be anywhere near a coward like Cole, who watched his partner get beaten down and did nothing. Jericho would instead send the J.A.S to do his dirty work – with Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, Jake Hager & Angelo Parker beating him down.
Orange Cassidy and Bandido would rush the ring to even the odd – but it was still three on four. The fourth man would be Roderick Strong – making his AEW debut!
Last seen in WWE’s NXT brand, Strong was a member of the Undisputed Era in NXT alongside Cole – and would take down the J.A.S on by one before hugging it out with Cole.
