‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Zach Tinker Shares He Would Love to be Back on Y&R
Since his stint as Sonny Kiriakis on ‘Days of Our Lives’ ended, Zach Tinker has been a busy actor. He went on to star on the hit CBS drama Fire Country, where he played the role of probationary fireman Collin O’Reilly.
The soap opera alum is also set to star in the film, Laced. When Zach Tinker stared on Y&R as Fenmore in January during a special 40th-anniversary episode to celebrate Bregman’s 40 years as Lauren Fenmore, he showed up with someone else – his boyfriend, Trey, who played the role of Julian Larach, a buyer for Fenmore’s department store.
Talking about his character, Tinker says, “I was thrilled to have that happen. Representation is always nice to have. It’s always nice to see my [Y&R] family.”
Before his most recent appearance on the show, Fenmore was believed to be heterosexual. His coming out as gay, and his parents, Lauren and Michael finding out happened off-camera.
“I liked [the story], but I wish there were more exploration of it,” says a candid Tinker. “It felt a little jarring.” However, he notes that “It was Tracey’s episode.”
The actor’s character on ‘Days of Our Lives’, Sonny — is also gay, and he knows that the coming out story of Sonny’s husband, Will unfolded over time.
“I’ve seen the episode where Will was talking to Sonny when Freddie Smith played the part,” the actor says. “The one where Chandler won his Daytime Emmy. I’d love to have explored that [with Fenmore]. It felt like a missed opportunity.”
About his most recent gig, he say, “I’m wrapped for the season on Fire Country,” and then reveals he would love to star on Y&R again, saying, “I’m back in Los Angeles now. I recently shot a movie in Puerto Rico. If Y&R invited me back, I’d love to [visit again].”
