The storyline between Sami Zayn & The Bloodline might be one of the best ever told in WWE – and while many felt the conclusion was at Elimination Chamber – Zayn simply couldn’t defeat Roman Reigns.

However, that night – he regained his best friend, and alongside Kevin Owens, looks to keep the fight against The Bloodline going.

The Usos are their targets, with the Unified WWE Tag Team Championships on the line in the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 39.

This is the first tag team match to main event WrestleMania since Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff at the inaugural event. It’s perhaps the biggest tag match in WWE history – with a 623 day reign as champions in the mix.

But First, Pat McAfee Needs Another WrestleMania Moment

Before this match, we’d get an impromptu match against The Miz – as Pat McAfee answered his ‘open challenge’. The Miz claimed the host of WrestleMania could not make matches official, but McAfee baited him into a match all the same.

However with 80,497 people in the business – someone could make it official, and that’s Snoop Dogg! The bell rang, a referee hit the ring, and this was official.

Spinebuster would land, and Miz would be driven into the corner. He came off the top rope, and into a superkick from McAfee. George Kittle would be shoved by Miz on the floor, and Kittle hit a big lariat.

McAfee would hit a Swanton Bomb to the floor on The Miz, and a punt in the ring means Pat McAfee wins at WrestleMania 39!

And Now – The Main Event Of WrestleMania Saturday

Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens would march to the ring with purpose in their eyes – entering their biggest tag team match of all time.

Jey Uso & Zayn would start this match, with Jey running him down with a shoulder tackle. Zayn would hit a Thesz Press on Jey, before Jimmy would pull him to the floor and Jey would follow up with a big dive – keeping the pressure on. Snap Suplex would follow on the floor – Zayn bouncing off the mats.

Zayn would show some life in the ring, able to send The Usos to the floor before completing the tag to Owens.

Owens would cannonball to the floor, before a frog splash off the apron for Jimmy, before another in the ring for Jey – getting a two count. Stunner was attempted, but Jey blocked and hit the pop up neckbreaker.

The Usos would swarm Owens together in the ring, setting up the Uso Splash for a near fall. Owens would set up the cannonball in the corner on Jimmy, with Jey there to stop the Swanton Bomb.

Zayn would nail a brainbuster on the apron, and Owens would fly – but Jimmy kicked out. Owens would tag in Zayn, hitting the Uso Splash for another near fall – trying to rub salt in the wound.

Jey would get the tag, sending Zayn off the ropes and hitting a jumping superkick for a near fall. The Usos would hit a double superkick, but Owens was there to save the day – taking a superkick himself for his efforts.

Zayn would be set up in the middle of the ring, and took a double superkick to the back of the head.

Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens Are Unstoppable

Another double superkick would follow, but Zayn would refuse to stay down for a three count. Even if it was just instincts helping him kick out, he stayed in the fight as The Usos set up the 1D.

Owens would pull Jimmy out of the way, and Zayn rolled up Jey for a two count. Jey looked to save Jimmy from a powerbomb through the table, and The Usos hit a double chokeslam on Owens through the announce table instead.

Zayn would try to find his feet in the ring, now in a handicap match. 1D would land – and Zayn still kicked out.

No one was kicked out of that before – but Zayn did it tonight. 1D literally means one and done, but Zayn managed to kick out well before three – finding new depths in the main event of WrestleMania. Jey would verbally berate Zayn in the corner while slapping him silly, and hitting the Helluva Kick.

Zayn would be told he never should have left The Bloodline – and responded with an Exploder Suplex into the corner.

Owens would crawl up to the apron, and set up the Helluva Kick to Jey, and a stunner to Jimmy – but still the match continues. All four men would brawl it out as 80 thousand fans were on their feet.

The Bloodlines Foundation Begins To Crack

Owens would take a series of superkicks, with the Uso Crazy set up – the double splash landing – and Owens still kicking out.

The Usos kept the superkicks coming, and Owens remained defiant as the Avalanche 1D was set – with Zayn pulling Jimmy away, and Jey taking a super Fisherman Buster. Zayn got the tag, stared down Jey – and nailed the Helluva Kick – and then another just to prove the point.

Jimmy took a Stunner, and Jey was put down with a third and final Helluva Kick. For the first time in their WWE careers – and for the first time since 2014 – Owens & Zayn are tag team champions.

And they did it in the main event of WrestleMania, ending a 623 day reign, and placing a major crack in The Bloodline.
