For the past 900 days, Roman Reigns has been the top dog in WWE. He’s beaten all challengers, and since winning the Universal Championship in 2020 – he’s also claimed the WWE Championship.
When Reigns won the belt, Cody Rhodes was still part of the roster of All Elite Wrestling – choosing to leave in 2022 to bet on himself. He won the 2023 Royal Rumble – and earned this shot against Reigns in the process.
With Reigns becoming more vulnerable and paranoid as his reign continues – many feel he’s the one who will finally cut The Head of The Table down to size.
Last night, we saw a major blow dealt to The Bloodline – as The Usos fell to Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania Saturday. Reigns has been teetering on the edge for months, and tonight – Cody Rhodes has a chance to truly finish the story.

Reigns would be forced to the ropes on the opening lockup, using the break to get free without expending energy. They were equally matched on the test of strength, with Rhodes getting Reigns down with a side headlock.
Reigns slipped free, but Rhodes hit a Goldust style drop down into throat thrust – sending Reigns to the floor to get counsel from Paul Heyman.
A dropkick would catch Reigns on the nose, getting a one count – forcing Reigns to expend energy. Disaster Kick would be caught into a powerbomb, with Reigns able to get the near fall early on a shocked Rhodes.
Quick suplex would follow, with Rhodes again having to kick out. Reigns was sent to the floor, only to take down Rhodes with a bodyslam on the ramp.
Solo Sikoa would get Rhodes in the back with a steel chair, as Reigns would distract the referee. Rhodes was stunned for long enough to allow Reigns to hit the Drive By Kick.
Reigns would get a two count in the ring, before Rhodes was again attacked by Sikoa. The numbers game is Reigns biggest advantage, and The Bloodlines ability to run distractions is unmatched.
Reigns would clear off an announce table at ringside, and set up Rhodes to go through with a powerbomb. Instead, Reigns would be one sent though the table with a back body drop – and suddenly, Rhodes has a chance.
Rhodes would keep the pressure on in the ring, nailing a snap powerslam. CodyCutter would follow, getting a two count on Reigns – before sending him to the floor for a suicide dive.
A Back And Forth War At WrestleMania 39
Sikoa would take the weight belt from ringside, and whipped Rhodes – with the sound heard by everyone, including the referee – meaning Sikoa was sent to the back.
Reigns would go to use the belt, but took a superkick and Cross Rhodes instead. Rhodes was close to winning, but Reigns has made last minute kick outs into an artform.
Reigns would set up the Superman Punch, but it was blocked into a Pedigree – but even that was not enough. A Disaster Kick was met with a Superman Punch, and it landed flush – nearly a clean KO for Reigns – but not enough.
Spear was blocked into the Sunset Flip, before Rhodes applied the Figure Four Leg Lock in the middle of the ring. No move has one more world title matches than this one, and Reigns knew to roll to his stomach and reverse the pressure.
Spear would land after Rhodes got the rope break, but Reigns was unable to get the win on the first try.
Reigns would start to lose his cool as Rhodes stuck around in this match, locking in the Guillotine Choke. Rhodes would start to fade, and Reigns would wrap the legs around Rhodes waist in the middle of the ring.
Roman Reigns Pulls Cody Rhodes Through An American Nightmare
Rhodes was able to break free, with the referee dropped in a quick brawl between champion and challenger. Reigns would be set for the Cross Rhodes – but The Usos hit the ring for a double superkick and the 1D on Rhodes.
Owens & Zayn would pick up where they left off last night, and fought off The Usos again.
Zayn & Owens would leave Reigns with a Stunner & Helluva Kick, but Rhodes was unable to get a victory based purely off the actions of others.
They’d rise and trade blows in the middle of the ring – battering each other again and again. Superman Punch was blocked with some Dusty Rhodes style jabs – before the Bionic Elbow.
Throat thrust set up the Double Cross Rhodes – and while Heyman distracted the referee – Solo Sikoa hit the ring with the Samoan Spike. Reigns hit the spear – and the historic reign doesn’t end tonight.
