The Firm has been having a rough time in 2023. Ethan Page has come to regret dealing with Matt Hardy, who was previously controlled by Page. Hardy has played Page like a fiddle, costing him the FTW Championship, freeing him and Private Party from the clutches of Page, and then defeating them in the Firm Deletion match.
Tonight with HOOK & Jeff Hardy by his side, Matt could win control of the contract of Ethan Page with a victory – as that was leveraged to get another shot at HOOK & The Hardys.
Ethan Page Gets Overwhelmed, Has Contract Owned By Matt & Jeff Hardy
Austin Gunn would kick things off with HOOK. HOOK would be run down with a shoulder tackle and told to Suck It, but instead grabbed a Heel Hook – with Austin pushing towards the ropes. The Hardys would hit the ring and show their tag team synergy with the flipping senton and fist drop.
HOOK would throw The Firm around, sending all three men to the floor. The Gunns would isolate HOOK into their corner of the ring, trying to separate the rookie of the opposing team – but he fought like a cornered dog.
Page would powerslam HOOK into the middle of the ring to slow his momentum, only for Austin to miss a spear into the corner and hit the post.
Page would again tag in, but was thrown with the El Camino. Matt got the tag and nailed the Side Effect on all three opponents. The Firm would instead target the injured Isiah Kassidy on the floor, trying to further injure his neck. Matt would rush out to make the save, but lost control of the match as a result.
The Firm would work together to beat down Matt, and ensured Jeff & HOOK were kept off the apron – keeping them out of the ring. Page would take a DDT from Matt, opening up a tag, bringing Jeff into the match. He’d hit some running forearm smashes and the Leg Drop to the midsection.
HOOK would rush the ring to beat Page down, grabbing an armbar – but Page broke free. Hardys would hit Poetry In Motion, but the Twist Of Fate/Swanton combo was blocked. Gunns hit 310 to Yuma, but Jeff broke the pinfall up with a Swanton. Page took two Twists ofFate, was caught in Redrum, and this one is over.

This year, AEW will once again honour a legend of professional wrestling. Owen Hart remains an influential name in the industry, and last year – Adam Cole & Britt Baker won tournaments in his honour. Tonight, the 2023 tournament starts – as we get the opening ceremony.
Dr. Martha Hart would come to the stage to join Renee Paquette, who reminded everyone that this tournament kicks off in Canada this year.
Tony Khan would come to the stage in an Owen Hart Foundation fedora. Things will end in Calgary during the Calgary Stampede on July 15th. Don’t forget your cowboy hats!
