For weeks now, Christian Cage has been playing mind games with the new TNT Champion – Wardlow. He’s made it clear that he intends to take the championship from Wardlow in time, despite it originally looking like Luchasaurus would be taking the title shot.
Tonight, we are set to hear from Christian Cage, as he addresses the TNT Champion once again – and perhaps names a potential time and place for him to chase singles gold in AEW.
Christian Cage Asks Tony Schiavone A Question
Tony Schiavone would ask what makes Christian Cage think he can jump the line – and name himself the #1 contender for the TNT Championship.
When you have a resume like he has, he can walk into Tony Khan’s office and ask for the title shot – and get the title shot. Cage has a question for Schiavone, that being what is up with the AEW roster and their daddy issues.
He just got through with Jack Perry, a man who much like Wardlow once ‘had’ a father. Unlike Perry, Cage isn’t going to focus on the father of Wardlow – because he was a nobody.
It’s lucky Wardlow found Arn Anderson, because Arn was looking for a son in his industry, having ignored Brock Anderson who was floundering on shows like AEW Dark – which don’t even exist anymore.
Cage would question the status of Arn as a legend, playing second fiddle to Tully Blanchard and third fiddle to Ric Flair. Arn was never a World Champion, Cage is a multi-time World Champion.
What will Wardlow do when he realises his legendary manager is not even half as smart as his upcoming opponent? Simple, he’s going to fold and we will have a new TNT Champion.
Anna Jay & Julia Hart Use Everything But The Kitchen Sink
Last month, fans would see Anna Jay & Julia Hart meet in a hard hitting match on AEW Rampage. This would see Hart gain the victory – something Jay didn’t take well. She would attack Hart two weeks ago on Rampage, simply escalating the feud to a new level.
Tonight, they bring this feud to AEW Dynamite as they clash in a No Holds Barred match. These two ladies are not scared to be violent, and tonight will look to prove to the world that they aren’t to be overlooked in the division going forward.
Jay would attack Hart before she even made it down the ramp, smashing her with a trash can. Hart would manage to remain on her feet – before driving Jay into the barricade.
Jay would regain control as they hit the ring, but it quickly spilled back to the floor where Hart shoved Jay right into the barricade.
Chops would be traded in the corner of the ring, neither lady wanting to be outdone. Jay would gain the advantage, and wedged a steel chair into the corner of the ring.
Hart would be the one to make use of it, driving Hart into the chair head first. More chairs were pulled out from under the ring, with Jay slamming Hart onto the pile.
Jay would pile the chairs in the middle of the ring, and looked for a suplex onto the pile. Hart would hold her ground, instead pushing to the corner for a superplex onto the chairs.
Hartless would be applied – and Jay was forced to submit in the middle of the ring. This feud is likely far from over, but Hart won the battle tonight.
House Of Black Are Playing By Their Own Rules
House of Black are ready to accept any challengers for the AEW World Trios Championships. All matches are under Open House Rules, meaning a 20 count, no rope breaks, and DQ’s are strictly enforced.
Tonight, they look to once again defend their belts as they are faced by AEW fan favourites in Best Friends. Chuck Taylor & Trent Barreta will join forces with new ally Bandido tonight, and look to prove the house doesn’t always win.
Another ripple to House of Blacks new rules was dimmed lighting around the arena – putting the focus on the ring. Bandido & Black would start the match, trading strikes, with Bandido being dropped and taken into a kneebar.
Without the rope breaks, Bandido had to pull himself from the ring to get out of the hold, giving extra time in the submission to Black.
Bandido would get the tag to Beretta, who cut down Black alongside Chuck – but missed a blind tag to King. The heavyweight of House of Black would wreck chaos at ringside, tossing Beretta & Bandido into the barricades.
Black would get the tag to work on a beaten down Beretta, with some kicks, before King would go for a Superplex.
Beretta used his head to prevent this, and hit a missile dropkick to take King down. Matthews was tagged in, and rushed Taylor & Bandido off the apron before taking a Swinging DDT. Beretta would survive the attack of Matthews, avoiding a Curb Stomp and getting Bandido into the match.
Spinning Crossbody would see Bandido soar onto Matthews, and King was taken out with the Crucifix Bomber. King & Black took a dive on the floor, before springboarding into a pumping knee from Matthews. Taylor got the tag, but quickly fell to Dantes Inferno – ending this match.
