After a loss at Double or Nothing against House of Black, The Acclaimed asked for some time on Dynamite. Billy Gunn said that things didn’t go according to plan, and admits he let Max Caster & Anthony Bowens down. Caster said that Gunn is being too hard on himself, as any team can lose on any given night – and were undefeated in trios action before that match.
The Acclaimed Intend To Win Trios Gold, And Make Billy Gunn A Champion In AEW
The Acclaimed intend to be champions again, and want the legendary Gunn to hold gold one more time in his career. Gunn was disappointed, but The Acclaimed loved him still – and everyone loves The Acclaimed. They will look for another shot, and House of Black has been put on notice.
Things were kept short and sweet here, and their goal is clear – winning trios gold. The Acclaimed remain one of the most popular acts in professional wrestling, and Gunn is getting respect for his long career. House of Black are dominant, but The Acclaimed are The People’s Choice, and maybe the people can topple a house.
Don Callis Calls Konosuke The Greatest Athlete In Professional Wrestling History
Don Callis has burnt the bridge between himself and Kenny Omega over the past month. As if stabbing him in the back during a steel cage match with Jon Moxley wasn’t enough, he’d turn Konosuke Takeshita against Omega and handed Blackpool Combat Club the victory in Anarchy In The Arena.
Tonight, Callis has a chance to explain his actions against Omega, and why he’s chosen Takeshita as his latest meal ticket in professional wrestling.
Helping Callis feel secure, it was confirmed earlier in the night that Kenny Omega was no longer in the United States. Hangman Page made it clear however, he was not in his home country of Canada.
Callis was barely able to get a word out over the boo’s of the crowd, as he claimed to be the real victim here. He’d run down what he helped Omega achieve, and pointed out that Omega picked The Young Bucks over him.
Omega destroyed a family, Callis lost a nephew in Omega – but gained a son in Takeshita. He’d call Takeshita the best athlete in professional wrestling history, and said he’s better than Rikodozan, better than Inoki, better than Maeda, and better than Okada.
Takeshita is even better than Kenny Omega, which will become clear very soon. Pledging to destroy The Elite & Omega, Takeshita proved he was all in with Callis and his plan to cut The Elite from AEW.
Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy Fight Off The Gates Of Agony
Darby Allin fell short of winning the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing 2023, perhaps fixating too much on trying to beat MJF with a Side Headlock Takeover.
However, he’s not one to duel on the past – and pushes forward tonight, as he teams with Orange Cassidy at face down Mogul Embassy members Gates Of Agony. Led by Swerve Strickland, Toa Liona & Kaun look to break down the AEW International Champion for their leader.
Kaun & Toa went right after their opponents, with Toa throwing Cassidy around the ring with easy. Allin would be taken to the floor by Kaun, but broke free to get the tag – using his speed against Toa before being run down.
Gates of Agony showed tag team chemistry as they cut their opponents down, with Swerve & Brian Cage grabbing a seat on top of the ramp to watch the fun.
Allin was whipped into the corner, hitting an elbow to Kaun before being crushed by Toa. He’d be pulled to the floor and whipped around ringside, before Toa ran Cassidy down.
Allin was isolated due to Cassidy being slow to rise, and Gates Of Agony cutting the ring firmly in half. Kaun used the turnbuckle for a backbreaker before Toa hit a running senton and Urange for a two count.
It’s Sting!
Allin would continue to fight, and used Kaun as a weapon to stun Toa. Cassidy got into the ring, and with hands in pockets would use his speed to use Gates of Agony against each other.
Orange Punch would miss as Kaun ducked, before Toa hit a Samoan Drop. Allin broke the pinfall up and would get the tag, working with Cassidy to take Toa out. A Code Red into the Coffin Drop on Kaun – and this match was over.
After the bell, Mogul Embassy would look to surround Cassidy and Allin, only for the legendary Sting to even the odds. He let Allin fight his own battles for the AEW World Championship, but refuses to let Allin be beat down like that. Sting and his bat would have the Mogul Embassy thinking differently about their attack plans – for now.
