Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal have taken aim at the AEW World Tag Team Championships, currently held by The Acclaimed. Tonight however, they will only be facing half of the champions, as Anthony Bowens teams with “Daddy Ass” himself, Billy Gunn. Even defeating half of the best tag team in AEW, especially when he’s teaming with a certified tag team legend like Gunn, would get an instant title shot.

Wardlow Promises Fans A Title Change

Before this match, we’d check in on the TNT Championship situation. Wardlow has waited patiently for his rematch for the TNT Championship, letting the likes of Darby Allin & AR Fox get shots at Samoa Joe first. He finally gets his shot at New Years Bash, with Joe willing to let Wardlow enjoy the holidays before he gets choked out once again.

Wardlow has a chance to speak before this huge title match – and Wardlow tends to keep his thoughts short and sweet, just like his matches. He would take issue with the title of “King of Television”, as he views Joe as a paper champion. He did not defeat Wardlow to win the belts, instead defeating Powerhouse Hobbs who had taken a handful of powerbombs. This Wednesday, Wardlow promises a title change – with the TNT Championship remaining right where it belongs.

Daddy Ass Lets The Acclaimed Down

After Caster would promise to send Lethal & Jarrett back to the Impact Zone and calling Satnam Singh the ‘Not So Great Khali’, Bowens & Lethal would start the match. Bowens would be able to outwrestle the veteran, hitting the leapfrog bulldog. Gunn & Jarrett would tag into the match, with Jarrett hitting a poke to the eyes before the Fargo Strut was halted with a heavy lariat.

Gunn would hit a Jackhammer for a two count, before Bowens would hit the jumping elbow drop. On the floor, Jarrett would be able to hit a cheap shot on Bowens with a lariat, as Satnam Singh would make Gunn look like he belongs in a Cruiserweight division. Lethal would catch Bowens as he rolled back into the ring, only to throw him back out to the floor.

Some heavy knee strikes would follow from Lethal, with Jarrett keeping the pressure on. It’s worth noting that Jarrett has been wrestling longer than Bowens has been alive, and that experience edge was clear. Lethal would hit a snap neckbreaker before a two count. Bowens would get a near fall off a roll up, before falling to the Lethal Combination.

Jarrett would hit the ring and be dropped by Bowens, who was able to make the tag to Gunn. Lethal & Jarrett would be dropped with some lariats, before the powerbomb was interrupted by Signh, who Gunn sent to the floor. Lethal Injection was blocked into The One, with Lethal kicking out at two. Bowens was dropped with The Stroke, as Dutt would hit a low blow. Lethal Injection landed, and Gunn was not kicking out.

Will Lethal & Jarrett get their title shot on January 4th? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
