We’re back to speculation of Bray Wyatt heading to AEW. Remember when news and discourse around Bray centered more around his in-ring ability? The gimmick: most fans loved the swamp cult leader period of Bray. Then he evolved from a cult leader to a supernatural being—not totally unlike The Undertaker, a supernatural being who dabbled in cults and biker sh**.
As WWE TV Hiatus Rolls On Could Bray Wyatt Finally be Bound for AEW?
This stage of Wyatt’s character was very polarizing. Some liked it, others hated it, and a couple liked it but felt this WWE wasn’t the place for it. Not only that but the gimmick seemed to be a writing exercise for creative since they had to figure out how to make Bray Wyatt fit with the plans and his fellow superstars.
As we’ve recently discovered around WrestleMania time: either the gimmick or Bray himself is a momentum killer. Wrestling him—especially in his themed matches—just doesn’t seem advisable. While this was something of the case towards the end of his first WWE run, this has definitely been the case with his return to the company in 2022.
It’s mainly down to the booking having trouble keeping Wyatt strong while also being natural with the WWE Universe to where some special configuration or whatever isn’t necessary. There’s intrigue to the Fiend gimmick, it’s was unique during this generation of WWE.
Following his release from WWE at the end of July 2021, there was a window of time when there was interest in Bray Wyatt and interest from fans as to where he would land. There was always the strong possibility of returning to WWE but the interesting fantasy pick—at the time—was AEW. For the IMPACT fans out there, that seemed like the best creative pick.
That speculation has come back around as Wyatt has been out of the loop of WWE’s ongoings. The company is steaming ahead with new debuts, new rivalries, new feuds, and new championships. However, it appears as though the Fiend isn’t being factored into any of this.
A cryptic message during AEW Dynamite has fans believing that maybe Bray Wyatt is All Elite. The message which flashed on the screen as “NO.” occurred during the bout between the Mogul Embassy and the team of Sting, Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, and Keith Lee. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed that the message or glitch appeared on all broadcasts of AEW Dynamite.
Instantly, speculation turned to this being Bray Wyatt and he’s bound for AEW. Who knows, maybe his contract was for a year and very loose this time? This is being countered with speculation that Wyatt might be returning to WWE soon.
If this speculation-mania sounds familiar, the same thing occurred in late 2022 when “White Rabbit” played during WWE programming. What do you think? Is this a sign that Bray Wyatt is going to AEW? Or is this something for an unrelated wrestler? If he isn’t leaving WWE, how do you see Bray being brought back in? Let us know down below!
