It’s been rumored for a month or two that Bianca Belair will be turning heel along with the Street Profits in the coming months, and we’ve been seeing some seeds planted for a few weeks now.
Belair was all positivity when she was champion, but whenever she’s lost the title she’s been obsessed with winning it back, but previously she had no problem earning her shot after being sent to the back of the line.
This time following her record setting reign, she wanted a rematch right away and agreed to wait until after Asuka was presented with the new belt to get her shot.
Bianca Belair’s Quest for Gold Leads to a Heel Turn
But when Charlotte Flair returned and called her own shot and named herself as Asuka’s number on challenger at Money in the Bank, Belair lost it.
It’s easy to say she’s frustrated with backstage politics and others getting preferential treatment, but to be fair Flair’s earned it with her career and so has Belair.
Belair has been given more than he share of chances as she was bull rushed into the top spot almost immediately after coming to the main roster, and now we think that’ll play a role in her heel turn.
She wants her gold
We’ve seen plenty of superstars crave the spotlight of having championship gold and many have sold their souls in various storylines to get and keep it.
It looks like Belair is about to go down that path after she confronted Flair about calling her shot and promising to call her own.
It was subtle, but it came up when Flair pointed out it’s about how one acts and carries themselves that makes them a championship, citing dusting herself off fourteen times to rise to the challenge again.
She said that she’s a champion whether she had the title or not, and when she asked Belair is she was, Belair cited her recent run and how she didn’t have to do it fourteen times like Flair.
Belair avoided the question and chose to run Flair down like they were politicians at a debate before she said she’ll challenge the winner of Flair and Asuka’s match.
New lease
This is a great thing for Belair as her character felt stagnated for the better part of her championship run. There was no growth or development character wise, just the same week after week.
This will inject new life into her character and career when she turns heel and we’re looking forward to seeing how she’ll handle the change.
She’s been so close to really breaking through for so long, we think this could be her Roman Reigns Tribal Chief moment if it’s handled right by the powers that be.
What do you think? Will Belair make a great heel or should she stay a face? Let us know in the comments below.
