Right now, the odd pairing of Adam Cole & MJF are one of the more popular acts in All Elite Wrestling. Initially set up as rivals, with Cole taking MJF to his limits in a Championship Eliminator match that went to a time limit draw – things would quickly change.
They would become partners for the AEW Blind Draw Tag Team tournament, and have quickly bonded. However, this was far from their first meeting, as Cole always knew MJF would be a big star.
Adam Cole Always Knew MJF Was Incredibly Talented
While speaking on Superstar Crossover, Adam Cole would recall meeting MJF early in his career – and knowing he had the making of a huge star.
“I actually met MJF when he was very, very early on in his career. From the moment I saw him, and I mean this, this is regardless of what I think about him personally, but from the moment I saw him, I knew he was super talented. He was one of those guys who got it very, very early on. He was someone who put just as much time and energy into his promo work as he did into his bell-to-bell in-ring competition work. So yeah, he was incredibly talented from a very young age. He was definitely one of those guys that when I saw I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be a guy I’m gonna be seeing a lot more of.'”
“Better Than You BayBay” Is A Quickly Developing Team
MJF & Cole won their first round match, defeating Daddy Magic & The Butcher. Afterwards, MJF threw a birthday party for Cole – and had plans to shove Cole into the cake face first. Cole would instead catch MJF with the cake, but there was no hard feelings.
They are set to team up tomorrow night on AEW Dynamite, facing the imposing duo of Brian Cage & Big Bill. MJF & Cole remain favorites to win the tournament, and potentially face FTR at AEW All In from Wembley Stadium.
