When teams were being drawn for the Blind Draw Eliminator Tournament, it was a stroke of good luck that Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara were chosen to team up.
The Jericho Appreciation Society duo were successful in their first match, defeating Jeff Jarrett & Matt Hardy – and now move onto one of the favorites to win the tournament in Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy.
Garcia has been focused on Cassidy and his AEW International Championship, giving this match extra meaning for him. Meanwhile, Guevara is questioning his role as an underling for Chris Jericho – with Darby Allin pushing him to improve as a wrestler, and a person.
MJF & Adam Cole Both Had Plans To Double Cross Each Over
Before this match, we’d catch up with MJF & Adam Cole as they hung out. They’d hit up the bar by request of MJF, leading to him to sleeping with four women at the bar. MJF would return and be pulled along with Cole – heading back to his apartment to play AEW Fight Forever.
While MJF was initially resistant to playing video games, he’d be won over by the fun of multiplayer games – admitting he never had the chance to play like this.
Cole would admit that he was planning on turning on MJF at the first chance he got, and MJF was planning the same. But as they spend time together, they’re actually becoming friends.
In the game, they’d win the AEW World Tag Team Championships – and intend to make this a reality. Their bond is becoming stronger, and this could carry over into the ring later tonight.
Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia Get Some Unexpected Aid
Cassidy & Guevara would start this match, with Cassidy mocking Guevara as things began before being launched with an arm drag. Guevara would distract as Garcia got a cheap shot, before Allin would rush in. Garcia got a nasty look from Guevara for the cheap shot, being unimpressed with the tactics.
Allin would meet his rival in the ring – getting a two count off a Jacknife pinfall. Guevara would be tagged out by Garcia, who threw Allin aside with a front headlock. Garcia would tag Guevara back into the ring, and they’d keep control over Allin – cutting the ring in half, and finally getting along.
Allin was taken into the Walls Of Jericho, with the crowd chanting that Garcia is a wrestler, but he’d yell that he’s a Sports Entertainer.
Guevara would taken down into the Scorpion Deathlock, with Garcia helping him free before getting a tag. Allin would hit a Code Red on Guevara, having missed the tag before hitting one on Garcia.
Cassidy would get a much needed tag, and came off the top rope with a crossbody. Tornado DDT was blocked by Garcia, before he’d lock in the Dragon Tamer.
Cassidy would be let go as Allin would hit the ring, allowing Cassidy to hit the Tornado DDT. Garcia would trade pinfalls with Cassidy on the mat, before moving to kicks to the jaw.
Guevara & Allin would find tags, with Guevara hitting a big rising knee strike. Shooting Star Press would be avoided, as Prince Nana came to the aid of Garcia.
He’d pass Garcia the skateboard of Allin, and told him to hit Cassidy. Allin would disarm Garcia, and Swerve Strickland would get a cheap shot in with a kick. Guevara hit the G.T.H – and moves to the finals.
