When Mark Henry left WWE after being inducted into the Hall of Fame and found a spot in All Elite Wrestling, many didn’t know what to think. However, Henry knew what he wanted to do in professional wrestling, and didn’t have a chance to help younger talent in WWE anymore.
This would set him up to be an important mentor in AEW, in addition to some small on-screen roles. Notably, Henry is helping former TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs, and has become very important to Hobbs.
Powerhouse Hobbs Details His Relationship With The Legendary Mark Henry
Speaking on the McGuire on Wrestling podcast, Hobbs would praise the help he finds in Mark Henry – having the following to say about the WWE Hall of Famer.
“That’s my wrestling dad. He gets on me when I need it. It doesn’t even have to be about the good things, that doesn’t matter, but things that need to be fixed. Things that are going to take me to the next level. Things that I need to do to transition better. ‘This works, look at that camera even longer, do your snarl here, turn that red light on when you need to but turn it off when you need to.’ He treats me just like his children. It’s a blessing to have him. I go to him for things outside of the ring. Someone who is willing to go the extra mile for you if you’re willing to put in the work.”
Hobbs Is Set To Have A Strong End To 2023
Powerhouse Hobbs is someone to watch in the back half of 2023. He’s been someone on an upward rise, having won the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match and winning a TNT Championship. Hobbs would recently turn face by attacking his manager, QT Marshall.
Given Marshall recently linked up with John Morrison of WWE fame (now Johnny TV), this gives Hobbs a chance to feud with a veteran.
This will help to establish himself as a babyface. Hobbs has been popular since joining AEW. However, he has only improved thanks to the guidance of people like Mark Henry – and is ready to break out.
