AEW has been an interesting place the last few months with their launching of AEW Collision and reports that CM Punk basically ran the show and banned some talent he didn’t like to be there.
Then when he was released and Tony Kahn made the announcement, they reportedly lost half their viewers.
With AEW Collision seemingly listless it looks like Bryan Danielson has stepped up and taken a leadership role in the show and may run it according to Jim Ross.
JR also said the ratings are up, so if Danielson is in charge it sounds like he’s doing a great job.
New management
During their podcast, Grilling with JR, JR and Conrad Thompson talked about various topics, and JR eventually shared some good news about WrestleDream pay-per-view this Sunday and about Danielson taking over on AEW Collision.
In JR’s mind, Danielson is the show’s MVP and he explained why. Special thanks to wrestlingnews.co for the transcript.
“I think anytime Bryan Danielson’s in a feature to attraction, it’s something to look forward to. So I would say he’ll set the bar, he meaning Bryan Danielson. So he’s red hot, man. He’s red hot, and his match with Zack Sabre Jr. should be textbook. The whole show is loaded with some really good talents who are looking to turn a head or two. So it’s gonna be fun in Seattle.
“He’s probably the most valuable player in AEW right now, at least in my opinion, not that we don’t have other MVPs. He’s really taken up a huge role, a leadership role. And that’s why I’m so blessed to be on Collision. That’s Bryan Danielson’s show. And it’s great because he brings maturity and ideas, a spirit de corps. He’s very, very important to everything that we do on Saturday night, especially. Bryan is really one of the best. I don’t know who’s a better worker in the world than Bryan Danielson right now. We’re lucky to have him and I love him to be around. We talk every Saturday. We talked about this or that or this idea or that idea. Just it’s refreshing. It’s a breath of fresh air to say the least.”
It’s not a surprise that Danielson stepped up as he always seemed to have a very good idea of how to make things work and in the ring there are few better.
There were reports recently that when he retires he’d like to be a coach or producer, and we think he’d be great in that role. What do you think about AEW Collision since Danielson’s ramped things up?
