There have been reports that former TNA/Impact Wrestling talent are looking to come back and sign long term deals following the successful taping of IMPACT! 1000, and one of them looks to be D-Von.
Yep, Brother D-Von is looking to unretire and return to in ring action following his return with Bully Ray on the first episode of IMPACT! 1000’s celebration.
The news comes curtesy of PWMania.com which reported that during a Wrestler Observer Newsletter update Dave Meltzer said the former ECW, WWE, and TNA talent appeared at an autograph signing in Monroe, Michigan.
There, D-Von reportedly said he is going to come out of retirement and would like to sign with Impact Wrestling.
D-Von is currently with the WWE as a producer backstage and has stated that he doesn’t want to do a WWE comeback.
His health is a concern
Even though Impact Wrestling has a far lighter travel schedule than the WWE, it’s still surprising since he recently had a serious health scare with a stroke in 2020 that nearly took his life.
Bully talked earlier this year about how he didn’t think D-Vin could wrestle anymore due to his health, but it looks like things are under control and he’s been medically cleared to wrestle.
It’s something D-Von talked about on Busted Open last month:
“I’ve had some health issues and I think that’s one of the biggest things for me. Because of the fact that I had the stroke in 2020 and I almost didn’t make it, I wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for my wife, who I love dearly, and who really, you know, saw that I was having a stroke. The stroke is a very silent killer, and to go through that, and to be able to only have 25% on my left side, and then had to go to rehab, you know, two or three different rehabs to rebuild that up, and then my personal trainer really helping me to get back to where I was, and then all of a sudden, only six to seven months later, to now go through back surgery, you know, I had L4, L5, and S1 pretty much fused with titanium bolts and everything. So, to go through all of that within a short period of time within each other and now all of a sudden having the opportunity to get back with Bubba and to be on the 1,000th episode of Impact and to relive the glory that we once had, I think it’s great. I’m really looking forward to this and see how much I’ve got left.”
When talk got around to how long he thought he could go and if he has a year left in him, he said he did. They want to make history one more time and we have to admit it felt good to see them back together in the ring.
