The absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Coronation of King Charles III will deal another setback to the Royal Family.
Harry And Meghan’s Coronation Absence Would Be ‘Their Way Of Punishing The Royal Family’
That is according to royal expert Kinsey Schofield. The couple were invited to the ceremony but have not yet given a confirmation about their attendance.
According to Schofield, if they decide to skip the Coronation, it could be seen as a new way of punishing others. In her comments, she said: “I don’t think we will see either one at the Coronation.
“I think that’s their way of punishing the Royal Family when, in reality, I’m not so sure that royal watchers wanted to see Harry and Meghan at the Coronation.”
Since giving up their roles as working royals in 2020, the pair have experienced a significant decline in popularity in both the UK and the US. The public strongly criticized the couple’s documentary “Harry & Meghan” on Netflix and the Duke’s memoir “Spare.”
Schofield also alleges that the King had previously shown leniency towards his son, but is now compelled to adopt a stricter stance in order to safeguard the Royal Family.
And she feels the two were compelled to reevaluate their strategy due to the adverse reactions they were receiving. Schofield added: “It’s blown up in their face, it’s backfired and what we’re seeing right now are consequences of some really poor decisions.”
The public’s reaction on social media was decisive. Large numbers of people expressed their desire to not see the duo attend the coronation, given the bad blood that had emerged.
After all, the last time they were in the UK at a royal engagement was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee where they were booed when they exited the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
One person wrote: “Certainly hope they don’t come to the coronation. They will do anything for attention and have shown nothing but disrespect for the monarchy AND the whole United Kingdom.”
