Sean Penn has criticised those that have failed to take advantage of the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
Actor Sean Penn Criticises Those Who Have Not Been Vaccinated
The vaccination programme has frustrated a certain subset of people, given the increasing number of shots.
And given that there has been so much mistrust around the mainstream media, coupled with the fact that the Covid regulations have failed to have gone away as of yet, people are none the wiser when it comes to the vaccine.
But for Sean, he believes that the science is unequivocal in demonstrating the efficacy of such vaccines. During an interview with The Independent, he said: “[I have] enormous faith [in the vaccines.]
“Sometimes people take their privilege and freedom as a right to be anti-citizen, to be failed citizens – those who will search out the kind of bogus science that would give them legitimacy [when it comes to] not being vaccinated.”
Nevertheless, it is important to bear in mind that people have a variety of reasons for not taking the vaccine.
First of all, there is no denying that genuine medical exemptions exist but they are not being recognised in light of the increasing number of cases where people have been denied services simply because they are not vaccinated despite claiming an exemption.
Secondly, a certain subset of people may simply not have access to the vaccines. In an attempt to overcome this hesitancy, Sean has set up a foundation called CORE (Community Organised Relief Effort).
The aim of this organisation recently has been to help further the efforts of the vaccination programme, with the hope that there is an increasing uptake going forward.
He added: “We plug along. We continually try to educate and to incentivise more people to accept the vaccine. And we advocate for the distribution of vaccines in places where people are hungry for it.”
The actor clearly feels very strongly about this issue, and irrespective of what you think about his stance on vaccines, Sean has put his name on the line by making a conscious effort to do something.
