Model Cara Delevingne has spoken on the difficult upbringing that she went through.
Model Cara Delevingne Opens Up On Her Difficult Childhood-‘There Was Quite A Lot Of Chaos’
Cara, for her part, did not exactly have the most stable upbringing. Her mother Pandora Delevingne had notoriously suffered from a heroin addiction, which was not made any easier by virtue of the fact that she would go on to have three children.
Not only that, but her mother was then diagnosed with none other than bipolar. All of this had a significant impact on her childhood, as it was clear that things were very difficult for Cara to handle.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Cara said: “Everyone has something they go through with their family. My life I feel was very stressful, because there was quite a lot of chaos, not being sure if people were okay or not.”
It is not surprising to hear, then, that Cara had also begun to suffer from mental health issues as a result. She admitted that she had to drop out of her school as a result, and began to suffer from depression.
In addition, Cara was also diagnosed with dyspraxia which did not make things any easier given her cognitive functions did suffer. That is why she could not cope.
She added: “I dropped out, and I really just wanted to be able to prove that I wasn’t the deadbeat I thought I was. When you have mental-health struggles, you can’t see anything, it blinds you.”
And those problems did not get any easier, with her modeling career. She found it hard to come to terms with the fact that she had questions over her sexuality.
Although she did come out as pansexual in 2017, there is no denying that it was a bit difficult knowing that she feared what people might have said.
But through it all, she managed to come out the other side with the prospect of a family certainly on her mind. Her following comments confirmed as much: “I want to have babies. But not yet.”
