Jerry Harris, who was best known for being on the hit show ‘Cheer’, has reportedly pleaded guilty for soliciting sex from minors.
Actor Jerry Harris Pleads Guilty To Soliciting Sex From Minors-‘Jerry Was Himself Exploited, Manipulated, And Sexually Abused As A Child’
This admission comes on the back end of Jerry deciding to plead not guilty initially. According to reports, Jerry had been sued by two teenage brothers aged 13, after they had met Jerry in 2020.
It is suggested that Jerry had been trying to solicit them for sex, as well as getting nude photos. Shortly thereafter, Jerry was arrested. Now the attention will turn to how serious the repercussions could be. And in an attempt to convey some remorse, Jerry decided to change his plea to guilty.
In official statement on behalf of Jerry, a representative said: ” Jerry was himself exploited, manipulated, and sexually abused as a child within the cheer community in a way that perversely made him believe that this sexual conduct was somehow normal when it was not.”
While that is not an excuse for what Jerry has done, it does demonstrate that he was a very troubled individual indeed. And in reality, his acting career is most likely over.
He began to make serious waves in the acting profession on ‘Cheer,’ and the response from that ultimately led him to becoming a correspondent for Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars.
With the world at his feet, his life will now never be the same. And the mother of the two boys, who had sued, wants to make sure that the highest possible punishment is given so that other children do not suffer from this.
In a statement in response, she said: “My sons took the brave step of speaking publicly…Harris’ admission of guilt today gives me hope that the pain and grief that my sons have suffered as a result of speaking up has not been in vain.”
With this case having stirred up so many emotions, the only thing left to do is let the authorities investigate the matter and come to a conclusion as to what the appropriate punishment should be. But that is sadly going to take some time.
