The AEW exit of Brandi & Cody Rhodes has been the talk of the wrestling world lately. Cody Rhodes was a key player in both the creation and the early days of AEW as a company, but his role was diminished over time – especially as the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson & Adam Cole joined the roster. However, while his future seems to be clear with WWE – it leaves his coach Arn Anderson and brother Dustin Rhodes in potentially awkward spots in AEW. What is next for these legends who hitched their wagons to Cody?
Arn Anderon Has His Son To Mentor… Or Could Join FTR
When it come to Arn Anderson, AEW would be fools to take him off TV just because Cody Rhodes is gone from the company. While Cody was his main client in AEW, Arn Anderson was the defacto manager for The Nightmare Family stable. An absolute legend of professional wrestling as one of the Four Horsemen, Arn gets great reactions all around America – and still looks as tough as ever.
His son, Brock Anderson has broken into professional wrestling as a rookie in AEW. Teaming up with fellow Nightmare Family rookie, Lee Johnson – they’re proving to be a solid tag team. Arn Anderson will likely continue as their on-screen mentor, but a recent storyline saw FTR try to pull Arn to join his old tag team partner Tully Blanchard, and wants them to mentor them. This storyline feels far from done – but if anything is clear, it’s that Arn Anderson will likely remain on TV as a manager.
Dustin Rhodes Is Still Here
When it comes to Dustin Rhodes, most of his time in AEW has been spent working alongside Cody Rhodes. From their classic encounter early in AEW’s history, to stepping to try and win the Interium TNT Championship, the Rhodes Brothers were linked in AEW. However, Dustin Rhodes remains a respected veteran of professional wrestling, and is going nowhere. He’d post the following to Twitter.
“Too many egos and too much bullshit. Work hard, keep your nose out of trouble, lift other up instead of treating them as they’re below you. Do these things and succeed at anything. I’ll beat ego every time. #KeepSteppin #ImStillHere”
