Minoru Suzuki is ready to finally end Toru Yano. Over his career, Yano has cost him numerous big paydays, spoiling his runs in tournaments. However, when Suzuki was able to claim the KOPW 2022 trophy, he finally had the mental edge on Yano – who covets that trophy.
Tonight, all rules are thrown out as they meet in the first ever Dog Cage Deathmatch in NJPW history, which was voted on by the fans – beating out a Handcuff match. The winner simply needs to beat their opponent so badly that they can place them in a dog cage – a massive humiliation for anyone.
Toru Yano brought a beloved regional mascot to the ring for this match, as he always hypes the bears in Hokkaido. Minoru Suzuki brought handcuffs as well, and a dog collar as well. All of this is legal, they just don’t win the match.
Minoru Suzuki Is A Caged Animal… Literally! Toru Yano Reclaims KOPW Trophy!
The cage was set up on the ramp, before we’d actually see some wrestling in the ring. Both Yano & Suzuki are great wrestlers, and an opening sprawl showed this. However, Suzuki quickly moved to those stiff strikes – levelling Yano with a forearm smash. Yano hit back and Suzuki just stared at him before the former KING OF PANCRASE just smacked him around and to the outside.
Suzuki would run Yano down with the dog cage – and he didn’t do it for The Rock. Yano would be thrown into the cage, but Suzuki would follow him in and nail some heavy strikes. Suzuki would try to lock the door, but Yano kicked the door into Suzuki. Back in the ring, Suzuki would use the corner that Yano exposed to set up the snapmare into the PK.
Yano nailed a low blow in response before handcuffing Suzuki. Without hands, Suzuki just headbutted Yano before handcuffing Suzuki. Now neither man had hands, they’d just throw double axe handles at each other – before Suzuki would find a way to get the rear naked choke.
Suzuki found some keys, and got free, while Yano was still cuffed. The dog leash was used to whip Yano before he was hung over the ropes by it. He’d be collared and pulled all around the ringside area. Suzuki shoved the ring hammer into the eye of Yano before finally putting him in the cage.
Yano somehow managed to cuff Suzuki into the cage and he’d lock the cage shut!! Somehow, against all odds Suzuki was trapped in the cage, and Yano wins again! Kosei Fujita was also trapped in with Suzuki, who was in grave danger as the cage was wheeler to the back.
House Of Torture Get The First Blow Once Again
Last night, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI were able to remain the IWGP Tag Team Champions, despite the battle that EVIL, Yujiro Takahashi and the rest of House of Torture provided. That match was a condition for CHAOS getting tonights match, as they look to challenge House of Torture to reclaim the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championships. With the lineup of Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and YOH on hand tonight, and months of experience at handling House of Torture, tonight could finally be the turning point for CHAOS in their war with H.O.T.
As soon as everyone hit the ring this one broke out into a massive brawl, with Takahashi taking YOSHI-HASHI in the ring. Dick Togo would be beaten down at ringside by CHAOS as EVIL watched in horror. Somehow, moments later Dick Togo was choking YOSHI-HASHI with a chair. Back in the ring, Takahashi hit The Stroke – but seeing as he’s not Jeff Jarrett, would only get a two count.
CHAOS Fail To Reclaim Their Gold
EVIL would look for a vertical suplex, before YOSHI-HASHI countered with a suplex of his own. Goto would get the tag and nail a backdrop suplex. SHO tagged in and raked the eyes, before being dropped with a heavy lariat from Goto. YOH would tag in and trade blows with his former partner, before hitting the inverted Dragon Screw and applying the Out of Print.
SHO would be able to get the ropes and get free of the modified Calf Crusher submission, but was quickly dropped by the Falcon Arrow. YOSHI-HASHI & Takahashi got tags and Takahashi nailed the basement dropkick to the face. House of Torture would rush YOSHI-HASHI down before Takahashi hit the Fisherman Buster for a two count.
Goto & YOSHI-HASHI would take the ring and nail their tag team finisher on Takahashi, but Dick Togo pulled the referee out of the ring. EVIL brought a steel chair before using it to soften up YOSHI-HASHI for the Magic Killer. Goto, YOH and YOSHI-HASHI set up the Ultra Violent Flash, but Takahashi fought free and hit a low blow. SHO used a wrench, and Big Juice landed to close this match out.
